I have a theory that halo and destiny are secretly linked. In Halo the Spartans are searching for a new planet to inhabit if I'm not mistaken, and in destiny you're trying to reclaim homelands. So, what if the Spartans are an experienced group of old guardians that were sent to find a new home as a backup in case their charge on fallen, cabal, and vex failed.
