Opening Statement:
Calm down everyone. I'm not trying to take away your beloved three character; what I'm doing here is supposing a scenario where having one character would be viable, and the better option.
Think about this way, say you just bought Destiny on day one... Now forget all the progress you've made and think on what I have to say next...
The fact that we can have 3 characters is pointless; it negates the whole purpose of choosing a class.
(READ THIS: If anyone is asking me on why I have 3 characters and not one: "Obviously I had to come to this conclusion somehow")
IF YOU DONT READ THE EDITS I HAVE A RIGHT TO CRITICIZE YOU ON YOUR MISINFORMATION AND LAZINESS.... keep Thats in mind....
Choosing a class should be intimate and a meaningful experience; character progression should be much longer and fleshed out, it shouldn't just be get Xp and your done, what about certain skill paths to digest in?And when you finally do max out your skills you should feel accomplished to have completed it.
And don't even get me started on class Differentiation, lol.
But oh well, I suppose this is only a dream, maybe Ive just been playing too much of superior games like Skyrim but ah well.

Edit/Idea1:
Idea! Instead of choosing a class you start off as a generic guardian! And you can choose 3 paths, titan, warlock, or Hunter . These paths require rigor and determination, and each path determines who your guardian is. You can only pick ONE path, and each path has it's own morphological to it. With this system I think it would be okay to have more than one character, because your dedicating yourself to a progression path that is meaningful, takes time, and isn't just putting different armor on.
Edit/Idea2:
I find it funny that the raiding system is the reason a lot of people started 3 characters or weeklies; I'll be honest, Thats a large reason why I started 2 more characters (notice how I said not the only reason, I wanted to see if I was missing out on anything), but eventually I just got bored because THEY ARE TOO DAMN SIMILAR, and also the progression is just "Do X to get XP", it's the same progression as every class.; The most important thing that Destiny's progression has taught me is that Fallout 3's progression system will not do for Fallout 4, lol.
Edit/Idea3:
There would actually have to be some REAL class diversity for "You need to try out all classes to get a feel for them" to be a viable option.
This doesn't even have to be something major! Maybe just even small touches, like how you handle your weapon, your visor looks slightly different from other classes, or maybe your footsteps feel clunky or your not even actually touching the ground as you walk! (In the case of Titans and Hunter)
Edit/Idea4:
In Skyrim:
play-style = Class
(Race is not a class, think Oblivion. When I'm talking about "class", im talking about skills)
(Play-style are determined by class, the problem with Destiny is that the play styles are not there, thus the classes are the same)
In Destiny:
No play styles, 3 classes
What Destiny Should be:
3 classes, 3 different play-styles
Honestly, I see a difference in each of the classes. Each one is its own experience. For instance, my Warlock is 32 because I'm best suited for what I call a "Flare-Blitz" style of play. That is, leap right in with all you've got and don't even care about your death, since you'll just bounce right back anyway. My Hunter is 30, since my secondary style is more stealthy. A "Quick-Attack" style, if you will. Then there's my Titan, which I can't even give a name because I still can't tell how best to handle it. What I'm saying is that having three class slots gives you a wider variety of options, and each one is better or worse depending on the way you play shooter games. Now that I'm thinking about it, I kind of want to delete my Titan and start another Hunter, but I'm not sure.

2 답변Didnt want to read it all, but picking a class should not be as such a big deal as you made it out to be. What if you pick the wrong class, or wanted to test another but found out the new one is not at all to your tastes. Being able to interchange classes is fine, besides i would say that a large portion of people play only 1 class as a main anyway. Sure i have 3 characters but my lock has more play time than either my hunter or titan. Do i dislike those classes and want them removed? No i just like my lock more. And i like the ability to 'Not be in the mood' for a warlock and have other options available. Tl;DR 3>1.

While I get what you're saying and I like it, I don't think it would work for Destiny. The classes really aren't any different apart from your three abilities, and only one of them makes any sizable difference on how you play. I don't feel any different running as my Hunter than I do my Titan, my Titan doesn't feel any more durable than my Warlock, etc. Combine this with how pretty much everyone looks the same with the Raid armor, I can't see how this could work unless Destiny underwent a major redesign.

2 답변I would like class evolution (after so many enemies killed with melee u get a melee buff kinda thing

I hate to say but I kind of agree with you if the diversity in each class was broader it would enrich the character choice process ten fold. I run 2 and started a 3rd and now I'm playing 2 other games as well so my 3rds been on the back burner and my second is seeing almost no time. I like the differences between them but barring a few a abilities they are very similar and not so drastically different that I really have a preference.

1 답변작성자: Kaulu 3/31/2015 5:17:51 AMIf you don't make proper use of the differences between each class, then I could see how you feel they play the same. Titans are agressive and tanky. They're able to stay in the fight and deal lots of damage, or help their allies. They make use of combat manoeuvrability and disabling grenades to disrupt and force enemies about. Hunters are perfect lone wolfs. They are designed to move about fast, hit fast, and get away fast. They utilise range, stealth, speed, and precision far above any other class. Warlocks are a mixed bag. On one hand, they can be very fragile, but offering extreme crowd nukage. On the other hand, they can be near indestructible, whilst providing sustained damage or massive area denial. If all you do is jump about and shoot, you're not going to see much difference. But that's on you, not the class/subclass system. Edit: That said, I would never say no to more customisation or class/subclass growth.

1 답변I really like the idea of having 3 distinct classes. The problem I think lies in how the game is executed. There's classes, but there's no niche for each class to fill. Each battle is the same- shoot until everything is dead. The classes slightly changes up what grenades are used, and how your jump works. Some classes have cool perks, like I have an energy drain voidwalker, but other than one exotic, he'll look the same as a Sun Singer, and in large part will play the same. But, how can we have 3 distinct classes without changing how the game plays at its core? If we try to limit gun types to certain classes then more customization is taken away. It's a good idea, but beyond my understanding on how to fix.

2 답변작성자: Guardian9447 3/31/2015 5:39:11 AMMeh... The ideas are good, but they've all been done before. I actually like how simplified Destiny is. I never did like making decision I could regret later about my character progression... and a lot of other people don't either. You wind up having a game that everyone YouTubed a build that was OP because of this. Sure, I would like if there were real ways to be different (in appearance or something) in some drastic way. But, in what game can you REALLY be that different? If they threw a "transmog" system into this game, it would take away a lot of peoples "everyone's the same" problems. You may feel a lot more invested (or intimate) in your toons.

2 답변I totally agree with you! I never thought only one character but I always thought only allowing one sub class to be leveled and maybe adding additional sub classes to choose from. I think it takes the uniqueness out of your character everyone just ends up being the same with same skill tree. You're supposed to choose your character according to your play style and build on it from there. I don't like how you can swap back and forth between classes and abilities just cause the situation calls for it. Once you choose an upgrade ability that's it. There shouldn't be any swapping around.

OP if you are being 100% serious then im with you. I dislike it when games start with choose class, make face, same start everytime. On Skyrim you could choose a race to best fit the style you plan on using or just be well rounded which was cool but the same start got kinda annoying.

2 답변I agree. Playing Mass Effect as a soldier versus being an adept completely changes every encounter. Playing RPGs where I can change from controlling a melee character to a ranged magic user completely changes how I strategize. Destiny is a damn good FPS experience, and that's it. Just have to accept it for what it is.
