Remastering too much?
Does anyone else feel like publishers are remastering games too often or just ignoring entire decent series? I don't see why games released in the past two years need to be remastered.

Well. I guess it can be both good and bad. Games from last gen. May not need a remaster they are still fresh on everyone who got them minds, and many people probably still have the console they released on still plugged into the tv. ( unless you are one of those people that trade in you old system to buy the new one for cheaper). However. At this point. Remastering a game from the ps2/ GameCube/ original Xbox isn't that bad. Nostalgia for old fans. And a game younger people haven't played and sometimes never heard about yet. Only exceptions to the remaster if last gen games I will accept are ports, or remasters of super rare hard to get games that didn't sell well for some reason. But then became everyone's favorite game a few years later. Xenoblade chronicles is one example if a rerelease I'm actually happy for. Never played it. But people on the internet that have played it. Call it a legendary rpg to experience. So. Yeah. Games like borderlands, MCC are probably examples of ones that may not need one. Halo 1 and 2 remaster. Maybe. But not 3 and definitely not 4.

1 답변I don't have a problem with remasters, you know exactly what your getting and I feel is a great way to get new fans who havent played that series as well as let old ones relive those moments. [spoiler]while others might see them as a cash grab, I appreciate what they do.[/spoiler]

3 답변Guaranteed sales. Did you think the decision to exclude backwards compatibility wasn't deliberate? Now you'll either download an older game from the marketplace for some ridiculous price, or you'll buy a "remaster" for full price. Either way, they'll get you to pay again. The obvious counterpoint is that you don't have to buy it, which is absolutely true, but that doesn't change the fact a) many people are going to buy it and enable them anyway even if you don't and b) it doesn't take a particularly large amount of effort to do so and therefore doesn't cost them too much. Hell, look at the MCC for an example of this; half of it was outsourced to a company in BFE to reproduce the content for low cost. Welcome to the industry, where anything goes as long as the average consumer remains ignorant.

1 답변I think remastering a single game from the last gen is a waste of time and dev power. However, I like the idea of collections. The MCC and HC are definitely worth the $60, especially if you haven't played them. You get most of the games in the series, all dlc and few graphical tweaks.

5 답변It's good in a way, I've never played any of the borderlands series so's nice knowing I can get all of them and the DLC at some point for the same price as one game

1 답변It's mainly just because of the newer consoles. Example: Timmy wants a PS4 but his favorite game is Assassins creed 3. Timmy gets the PS4 but misses AC3. Timmy and other people ask Ubisoft to remaster AC3. Ubisoft sees the money they can make off of it. Boom bang AC3 remastered.
