Today I got curious and decided to do some math.
The question: Why people seem to be getting bored with the game.
I was having a conversation with someone earlier about why they were so upset with the amount of content in the game. Looking at his destiny tracker, and after some math.. I figured out why he was bored. It breaks down as follows:
Play time between his 3 characters: 912 Hours. (38 Days)
The game came out 6 months ago. So our base is 180 Days.
In 180 days, the average person getting the recommended amount of sleep (8 hours), sleeps for 60 of those 180 days (1,440 hours). (33%)
In 180 days, the average person working 5 days a week for 8 hours a day, works for 40 of those 180 days (960 hours). (22%)
Someone playing destiny for 912 hours, or 38 days accounts for 21.1% of those 180 days.
Adding these together, the average person with 912 hours of logged game time has spent 76.1% of the last 6 months of their life Sleeping, working, and playing Destiny alone.
These numbers do not include time taken to eat, exercise, shower, run errands / do chores or be with friends / family. But, everything else besides sleeping, working, and playing Destiny would account for 23.9% of their last 6 months of life.
Recap:
Time sleeping: 60 Days (33%)
Time Working: 40 Days (22%)
Time on Destiny: 38 Days (21.1%)
Everything Else: 43 Days (23.9%)
... no wonder you're bored with the game. 3/4 of your last 6 months has consisted of not being conscious, working, and playing the same game.
ADDED 8/5/15: I've logged 12.7 days (305 hours) in total. Haven't played much in the last 6 months (except the last 2 weeks i've gotten on a bit more to see what HoW is all about.)
NOTE: Use WastedOnDestiny.com to check your time. Not Console time.
Added Note: At 500 hours if you spent $60 on the game and $20(or was it $15?) on TBD like I did, that's $80 total spent - You've paid 16 cents ($0.16) an hour to play. To put that into perspective: The average play time through Metal Gear Solid 4 is 18:48 (we'll round up to 19 hours.) That game also cost $60 when it came out. That comes out to costing $3.18 an hour to play. That's three dollars and two cents($3.02) more per hour than Destiny(plus expansion) and you've gotten 480ish more hours of gameplay.
This post isn't to bash anyone. It's just self-serve information. Figures are based on averages.

I quit for most of TDB and came back for house of wolves and I consider myself a casual player I go to school and go out with friends regularly I currently have 5 days (120 hours) clocked playing this game. That's a lot for me. The most I've played on any other game is NFS Most wanted and I played that for one day I don't get how people can play Destiny for over 500 hours!

작성자: a clumsy scrub 8/3/2015 5:11:08 AMIve heard of people using total time on the game, as opposed to time spent playing the game. 800ish hours for me, and I highly doubt that entire 20% is counting the way I am. To clarify, I dont count hours logged in Orbit.
