You need to read the update as you've read it wrong: Reduce base damage of Auto Rifles by 2.5% (averaged across Rate of Fire stats, higher RoF took less of a reduction than low RoF) The 2.5% is averaged across rate of fire stats. That doesn't mean that the 2.5% is the total average reduction across all weapons. It's how much of the 2.5% is applied to the weapon based on it's rate of fire.
-
Its* And, you're wrong. For one thing, people are testing it and finding reductions to be much greater than 2.5%. For another, your reading doesn't even remotely make sense. What do you think 'averaging' means? Any array that averages to 2.5 includes values greater than 2.5.

People pretty much only used the high impact ones. Shadow Price, Vanquisher and Suros were by far the most common for a long time. You didn't see as many of them lately solely because people have been buying new gear from the vanguard and crucible quartermasters, and now because of the nerf they're basically done. However, they were top-tier before the nerf.
-
Are you talking about today, or over the last month? Until the nerf yesterday they were definitely considered top tier crucible weapons. Vanquisher and Suros were as common as any other primaries. The christmas guardians tend to use them much less, because many of them haven't leveled up new monarchy and suros hasn't been sold for a while, but they were still widely regarded as excellent crucible guns.
-
Ohhh. That. Well, for one thing vanquisher and suros were hit pretty hard with the nerf bat. It really was like 15%, so now they aren't good anymore. People use blues because crucible standardizes attack values, and it's easier to get a perfectly rolled blue. For example, you can spend 100s of motes of light and rank up to 5 in iron banner to get your perfect Felwinter's Lie, but you can also get a blue shotgun with the same base stats from an engram. You can get 50 engrams pretty easily, and it's actually likely that you'll get one with hammer forged and shot package. People have been farming engrams and acquiring blue weapons with equivalent base stats to the legendaries and better upgrades because they're easier to farm than legendaries. It's not strictly that the blues are better, it's just that they are more common and it's easier to farm out your favorite upgrades.
-
The suros still hits hard so I wouldn't even say it's not good anymore, yeah I know people do that with blues but it's like those people only rely on perks and shit for them to do good in crucible. Why not just get better at it or you know try other gun types.

I don't think you understood my point. You said people were running around with rare weapons, and I explained why they were doing that. Good players aren't ONLY good because of the gun's advantages, but they do in fact rely on them in the sense that they successfully set up and choose fights that play to their weapons' advantages. Suros now has a disadvantage against a lot of weapons that it never had a disadvantage against. There's no "oh, if you're good you can adapt" argument to make here ; this isn't a fighting game where you have hard counters to moves. If I'm on a Red Death and I'm reasonably accurate then I'm going to beat the other guy's Suros. That wasn't true last week. That's a big swing. Time to kill is balanced pretty delicately, because most people are shooting accurately - Destiny's movement speed, aim assist and sightlines simply facilitate accuracy that well. The fight goes to the player who successfully sets the terms of the engagement more often than it is decided by accuracy. Also, I'm good at Crucible. You're better, but don't say s*** like 'why don't you get better' as if I'm an incompetent scrub. I wasn't complaining, I'm describing the current state of the union. A ton of weapons have jumped past high impact auto rifles on the time to kill charts.
-
I get what you're saying, I'm fine with auto rifles going to the weakest slot though. I think its better to have the weapon that's supposed to be short to mid range (auto rifle) be weaker than the one that supposed to be the medium between scouts and auto rifles (pulse rifles). So I'm fine with the change to auto even if the better ones like the vanquisher got a little more of a nerf than needed. I think the suros is at a good spot now, the body shots went from what like 30 to 26-27? Which is still high for an auto rifle body shot.
-
The risk/reward of the precision weapons has to involve punishment though, and that's kind of where the auto rifles come in. I'm a handcannon guy, but I still think auto rifles need to be useful. The new Suros/Vanquisher is so slow that it doesn't punish people for missing their precision shots.
