PVE vs. PVP and the Activision problem

The debate rages on as the upcoming update is probably going to start on Feb. 24th from 10am to 12, strong hunch considering I got this little red strip telling both Destiny and Bungie.net is going taken offline on this day for maintenance. The update is going to nerf all weapons, we will no longer loose heavy ammo when we return to orbit, get matchmaking for weekly Heroic strikes, and a new little window to check our reputation across all our factions. We get no new badly needed expansion to our vaults, no matchmaking for PVP or Raids though many would argue this point. PVP is being shown way too much love and the reason is Activision and their Call of Doodie mindset they want Bungie to do what they have only been able to do in one way and that's mutliplayer make a shitty game that's actually good, unfortunately Bungie hasn't been given enough creative control, all the things that made Halo: Reach one of the best FPS around has been strangled by Activision for one sole reason, the almighty dollar, yin, euro, pound, etc. Here is what I think led to the recent shit that is going down. PVP - My Plug1.ONE fusion rifle can't go toe to toe with that guys Suros Regime. Activision - Don't worry next patch we'll fix it, he'll need to get in closer before the damage will do anything to you. PVE - Wait that means I'll have to get in closer to that lv. 33 Major Knight in the Crota's End to do any damage to him, with my Suros. Activision - Play Crucible it won't be be a problem there. PVE - I suck at Crucible don't nerf my Suros because that idiot is using the wrong weapon for the job. And what about my shotgun? Activision - We can buff your shotgun but we'll need to nerf the range. PVE - You mean get within striking distance of that Knights OP'd sword get cut in half and get my raiding team pissed at me, no thanks, how about this nerf only PVP and leave us PVE players the F--- alone we don't need nerfs we need buffs. Activision - Sorry it'll seem like favoritism. PVE - You mean like it already is I get it, so what about a new PVE Event. Actvision - Have to wait until House of Wolves, until then how about another Iron Banner it's next month. PVE - You suck. I rather have Queen's Wrath with level 32 gear and a cool exotic for all f--ing grinding I'll have to do for it. Activision - Sorry we can't exclude the PVP players. PVE - Then what the f--ing thing is Iron Banner for, you dip shit. Activision - Oh your interested in Iron Banner, please join the next one in March. PVE - UGH, your totally f---ing bias/ This is my take on what I've been seeing

    PVP has been Bungie's fixation since Halo 2 (and its what they most commented on in the reception of CE. Never mind the millions who bought the game for the most immediately playable aspect of it, some people held LAN parties!) What the hell does this have to do with Activision (who at worst published a series that merely followed along with[i] Bungie's template[/i] which Destiny merely [i]continues[/i]?)

  • If they just wanted another eSport (PvP) game, then they should've just given us a static campaign. But no, the initial vision presented before launch was all about this shared world shooter with PvP as an after thought. This is why so many bought the game. [spoiler]The reality is, it's PvP first and the shared world shooter is an after thought.[/spoiler]

      • the one and only problem: nothing is going to happen if everybody continues playing the game. period. they can do what ever they want, and they will continue to do what ever they want. i just do not get the concept. why continually kick those who pay you and like you? would we not play the game if they put all those (well, not all of them, but many) wishes in the game. i dont think so! so why the charade? why?

        • The foaming disrespect from the PVE-only players is interesting. I play both modes equally and don't consider either side invalid. I do however believe PVE players are sometimes less willing to be objective.

            It's like the old picture of two donkey's tied to each other by their tails, straining in opposite directions to get at seperate hay bales. PvP and PvE players want different things, and keeping them both happy is difficult. PvPers want *balance* so that skill and cunning (rather than gear) wins fights. PvEers want' *power*. To find that perfect combination of gear that lets them mow down their enemies.. Like the donkeys, as long as both side only think about their own needs, the game will suffer. Both sides need to act with greater maturity. PvPers need to stop calling for every weapon that gives them trouble or they find annoying to be nerfed. PVEers need to stop acting as if every tweak to weapon performance is the Apocalypse. In the cartoon, both donkeys get to eat in comfort if they work together. Both eating at one hay bale, and then moving to the other.

              • You lost me at "Halo reach was one of the best fps around". That PvP was horrible and started the downfall of Halo as the most popular shooter on Xbox. Remember armor lock? Reticule bloom? Still, I did agree with a lot of what you said, PvP and PvE should be separated better than it is now, for sure.

                • I bought the game for its PvE and I'm disapointed. So far I haven't seen or heard anybody play the destiny story with a fire team just for the fun of it. No one want to play story as a team cause there no story and you don't get any rewards for it. They haven't solve the problem with AFK player on regular strike and now there going to add match making to Heroic strike. That great. Lucky I got lots of friends and don't care if I carry AFK player but other are not like me. We know that whatever changes weapon go through because if PvP effect PvE so don't need explain. RNG pretty much garbage. Who ever made it feel luck base was an idiot. I get why but it stupid. I would have made it feel like a balance of luck and skill base. Protrol boring as hell with same 5 mission and the only thing interesting in PVE are strikes,raids and weekly's. Sadly not the story itself. Least one thing this game did well is that I made friends with other guardians. To bad majority of the guardian on this forums are more like your enemy's then friends.

                  Bungie has FAR more control than you think, Activisions main role has been making sure deadlines are met, the story cuts and all that are ALL decisions that Bungie made in its own. Activision would have no reason to want destiny to replace CoD because they make a killing g off of CoD AND they don't have to split this profits with Bungie. Trust me, Bungie is a wolf in sheep's clothing, at least Activision is honest about being the wolf :P

                  • PVP and PVE need be separate armor and weapons, because they don;t want to put any effort into making maps in PVP where the weapons actually have tangible uses and advantages to make them all usable properly.                     • It is true that this game balances guns for PvP. I love PvP but a lot of the nerfs don't make sense in PvE. Shotgun range nerf? Fusion rifle spread increase? Hand Cannon accuracy reduced? Come on, they obviously are giving a lot of love to PvP, they could at least spruce it up with some PvE events like Queens Wrath. They have the power to only nerf in a certain aspect of the game.

                      • the pvp in this game is lacking so many features that make pvp in games fun, like a capture the flag mode, not this stand in a node crap, i mean running a flag from one teams base back to yours. it would be nice if they just gave us some -blam!-ing options.

                        • Agreed, when I do play, which hasn't been for a week, I enjoy pve more than pvp. It would be great to see another Queens wrath considering I would rather alley to the queen and her brother and not the traveller purely because they're more interesting than every other character in the game combined.

                          • AGREE 100% bungie is ruining the game without even realizing it I believe that the reason this game is being held back is because of the retards who cry in pvp Please [b]deej im begging you, stop nerfing guns.[/b] A direct example of this MAJOR problem is with the thorn. This gun is a monster in PVP and if bungie was to NERF the gun because some PVP scrub cried and got a thread going, then this gun would not be as effective in PVE I also believe that this problem is the same reason that the nechrochasm is so terrible in PVE, if this gun was like the mythoclast then it would be op in PVP so people would cry Basically what I'm saying is that by nerfing a weapon because it too good in PVP completely ruins it for PVE I bought this game for PVE and while I still play PVP and enjoy it, bungie [b]MUST[/b] TONE DOWN THE NERFS, because it's screwing with PVE

                            "No matchmaking for PVP or Raids" Since when did PVP not have matchmaking? Also, some weapons are being buffed. It's not always cloudy weather outside ... you should get out and enjoy the sunshine once in a while.
