Every weapon and ability in Destiny is situational in how efficient it is :p Besides, anyone who constantly rolls with the same class/subclass, abilities and weapons is missing out on a massive amount of fun and replayability. Switch up your character/weapons, and it feels pretty much like a whole new game! Ice breaker is the closest to being a gun that is useful in pretty much any situation (even in an arc or void nightfall), but I've been experimenting with other snipers and shotguns a lot recently and it adds a lot of variety to the game (armour piercing snipers for wallbanging, shotguns for going ham in strikes rather than sitting back and sipping your coffee).
