I've seen many people saying they "earned 32" with very... Condescending tones. How? I've played since day one. RNG grants you your gear, it always has. You can beat the raids fair and square ten times over and get nothing good. You don't ever actually earn it. You can grind for months and get all shards and energy, it happens to me and many others constantly.
If you get the gear you need, RNGezus is showing you a fit of mercy... Right up until that next DLC comes out. Nobody actually "earns" a damn thing in this game. The closest you ever come to "earning" things is buying items through Xur: Agent of Dissapointment with Strange Coins you got from weeklies or grinding out with Iron Banner and buying gear for exorbitant prices... But even those things are also randomly generated when they first arrive.
Nothing in Destiny is earned, it's either handed to you on a silver platter by RNG or not at all.
You could grind for thousands of hours and get utter garbage (gotta love dat energy) compared to the guy who only has 100 hours in and magically has full Crota's armor and Gjallahorn. It's all random.
I love this game and a lot of the people I play with but "earning" things and having them handed to you by a random number generator are two totally different things.
The RNG in this game is broken, and so is the reward system.
Edit: Someone pointed out the exotic bounty weapons and the gloves from one of Eris's missions... Even the Stranger's Rifle, pos that is, are actually earned (there aren't quotes there because you do legitimately earn those), I forgot to mention those so I'm glad someone brought those up. Those are items you actually earn in this game. I'm excluding Vanguard guns and the like because I don't have the time to count all of those, so I'm just using exotics and quest rewards as an example. Around only 10 items actually have goals or things you have to accomplish to get them, that were in no way influenced by random numbers dictating you get a new helmet, rifle, etc.
BUT to actually get an exotic bounty it's still a completely random chance you'll get one. I know people who have been playing since launch like myself and they still have only gotten one or none.
Edit: Someone mentioned Murmur being earned. Thanks for that.
I am, however, honestly appalled by some of these comments people are making just because I voiced my opinion on this. It's a community. Act like it. It might not be popular, but it still is an opinion many people besides myself share. Trash talking how many Crota's End completions someone has is like complimenting them on having a life. It's counter productive and pointless, and you don't know them or the schedule they have available to game with.
Edit: Wow, 150 responses is awesome.. Even if around half of them are the... Special kind of comment. Thanks for the bumps, everyone, especially those of you who are being civil.
Edit: 250 responses is amazing. I do see the point people are making that you earn your rolls of the dice, but it's still completely random what you get on said rolls.
