Most of us are blinded by the holiness of RNGsus. But I'm a sceptic and a non-believer, so I have a theory of why YOU wont get a certain weapon, but others will.
Now, we all think that it's all based on RNG, but I don't really think so. I do understand the concept of randomness, but I don't believe that's a fact in this concern.
I am gonna use two examples:
Player 1:
- has Thunderlord and Gjallarhorn
- want Ice Breaker and SUROS
Player 2:
- has SUROS and Ice Breaker
- want Thunderlord and Gjallarhorn
Player 1 and 2 keeps on grinding for their wanted weapons, but usually get random crap drops. And to top that, they get multiple drops of the exotics they already have. (like me, i've gotten 3 No Land Beyond from Crota)
And this is where my theory comes in...
Bungie has a system (fixed RNG), that basicly makes it (nearly) impossible for you to get the weapons you are missing. It's like your profile is assigned to certain weapons. Me, I get SUROS all the time.
So a simple example for this system would be:
"Drops assigned to Player 1: Thunderlord, Gjallarhorn etc" (these are the drops always handed out)
"Drops avoided for Player 1: Ice Breaker, SUROS, etc" ( these are the drops that might never happen)
(same with Player 2,3,4,5,6,7, infinity)
I know there are many RNGsus followers out there, and by all means, praise him! But me, I'm not fooled by this non-sense anymore. Just like anything else, Bungie likes to control the community, so they control RNG as well.
Yeah, I know, Bungie started selling Ice Breaker, which was hard to get for many of us. But that was also their decision. Why do you think it became available shortly after CE? To soothe the masses to keep them playing.
Conclusion: Players will always get the same drops, and will most likely never get that one thing they are missing (in my case Gjallarhorn).
Hope i made sense. I've been thinking about this for a long time, but never been able to put a word to it. Maybe i wasn't able now either... I might be wrong, but I'm sure my points makes it clear enough.
*edit 1*
I see many say they have all Exotics, and asks me to explain that. Well, that's cause Bungie decided that your profile, amongst others, could. That's why.
*edit 2*
*sigh* This wasn't actually meant to be a post about weapons never dropping, cause they can. It's just that it is controlled by Bungie. Sure, some of you have played for 500 hours and finally gotten a certain weapon. But because the community is continously growing, Bungie decides to hand out X amount of, ie, GHs a day, but still manage to control the weapon flow.
*edit 3*
People seem to be believe I'm saying stuff never drops. If it says that somewhere in my post (I've tried to reword myself), that's not what I'm saying. Please, read my post over again, especially "edit 2".
*edit 4*
Well, I expected a lot of flaming since my so called theory is far fatched, flawed and simply crappy :P
I've tried my best to answer most posts I've seen fit. Thankfully most have been serious posts. Some not.
I am now going to get a beer and my whisky bottle, sit down, and play some Strikes. Will check in later to see if this is still alive.
Hopefully I will prove myself wrong and get GH tonight... hrhrhhr

I've heard this theory before, that each player's profile has a random exotic weapon and/or armor with an extremely low or even 0% drop rate. Which very well could be the case. But I find it difficult to believe this. I think it's more likely that, since exotic drops are rare as it is, that the odds of getting the one thing you are looking for (out of a dozen or so) are fairly low, and people want to try to find meaning in everything, to know the reason why something is (or isn't) happening, so they come up with this theory which would certainly explain it. So now with is idea that there is still nothing you can do about it, at least you have someone (Bungie) to blame for it.

I agree with this. Not only do I repeatedly get exotics I already have, but my Warlock has only ever once gotten a piece of Crota gear that didn't have strength on it. My Crota build has well over 400 strength. I break down Crota armor constantly solely because there's no variation. My Titan (alt) on the other hand has been blessed by Crota's RNG with only intellect and discipline, not once strength.

you my friend are wrong it took me from week 1 to 6 weeks ago to ghorn and I got icebreaker the same week xur sold it the 2nd time and I just got hardlight yesterday and nearly have all but 2-3 exotics and it took forever to get some like these 3 whats that 4-6 months to get these 3

I think this is right on. I've had 5 characters light capped since I started playing 2 have been deleted. My first 2 hunters get all the same drops, the 3rd hunter gets different drops. For example First 2 hunters have never had a raid chest , raid pulse, or g horn drop. But have arms and auto drop constantly. 3rd can't get arms or auto but first run thru crota got g horn , and chest . Also yesterday got the pulse. Coincidence , I think not.

It's a possibility. That way it makes exotic weapons a little more unique and not everyone has every single exotic. I see why Bungie would do that. Although I don't agree with you that Bungie literally went in and rigged single account to get certain exotics. Maybe once you get an exotic for the first time, you're more likely to get that exotic again but there's till the possibility of getting one you don't have. That would explain the fact that some people have all of them.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY RIGGED VAULT HUNTER. THIS HAS BECOME OBVIOUS OVER THE MONTHS I HAVE PLAYED THIS POS GAME. I ALWAYS GET SPECIAL WEAPONS WHEN I GET EXOTIC DROPS. ONCE IN A WHILE I WILL GET A PRIMARY OR HEAVY. EXPLAIN 10+ ICEBREAKERS, P&T, AND UNIVERSAL REMOTE. (COUNTS AS SPECIAL BECAUSE I GOT MY FIRST ONE OUT OF A SPECIAL ENGRAM) MELWODOWOWOWOFODOWOWOW!!!!!

3 답변Bad theory. In one week, literally ONE week, between the 5 people I consistently play with there had been: 6 ghorn drops, the first 4 were to people who never had them. 2 icebreaker 1 thunderlord 3 hard light 2 no land beyond. And 3 mythoclast. And that's just one week If it was fixed bungie wouldn't have given so many ghorns. It's alllllllllllll RNGesus spread his love. You should probably google how RNG works before spouting theories.

I definitely agree that some weapons seem to be almost impossible to get, it really does seem like every player has different odds for getting each exotic. For me it was universal remote, had every other exotic for months, but the game kept giving me more of the same exotics I already had. Finally got UR a few weeks back from deathsinger, now it sits in my vault with all the other weapons I never use....lol.
