The Vault of Glass Praedyth - Why? Why do I have 2 sniper rifles? Kabr - I do not know. You do seem overly burdened with weapons. Praedyth - And LOOK! One has a Void generator attached to it. I remember attaching it, but I don’t remember why. I hate using Void generators, they can be so unpredictable. Brale - Perhaps you wanted it for the Vex shields? Praedyth - I’ve never wanted it before. She stood there with both rifles in front of her…starring. Praedyth - This place has taken something from me, something precious. Kabr - It has not. Pahanin - Actually, it is hard to know. Kabr - What was that Pahanin? Kabr often forgot Pahanin was listening to their conversations while he remained stationed outside the Templar’s temple. Pahanin’s Ghost - Excuse my interruption, but given the circumstances and the events with Praedyth, I should add some context from the information we pulled out of the Ishtar Academy that I dismissed as theory. The Academy scholars said Gorgons had a control over reality, they could look at a person, judge if they are real or not, and the Gorgon reality would take over. In a sense, Gorgons can determine if something should not be in their reality, and if judged so, they can remove it. Pahanin - Kabr, tell me you haven’t been questioning why we would attempt the Vault with only 4 guardians. It doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t make sense because it isn’t what happened. We have lost people here and we don’t even remember it. Praedyth - So I lost someone? A loss that would make me feel this way? I am married to Osiris, I remember that. I don’t have children… At this thought, Praedyth felt the same nausea come over her, and she dropped to a knee. Praedyth - That’s it. I lost a child here. I lost a child here…and I don’t even remember them! Kabr and Brale did not have children, they had never seen the point to a family given the type of work they did and the things they had seen. They could not understand what Praedyth was feeling. Brale - Perhaps Osiris remembers and he can… Pahanin’s Ghost - Unfortunately, while the Vex do not have the ability to erase things that are outside the Vault of Glass, it is likely whatever they erase inside the Vault of Glass extends to the outside world. Praedyth’s state of mind was all over the place. She was experiencing loss without knowing what, and anger for something she could not remember. Praedyth’s ghost appeared and began talking to her in a voice too quiet for the rest to hear. After a few minutes of sitting by herself, Praedyth stood up, and there was a cool hatred in her voice. Praedyth - I will kill them all. As a guardian, Kabr was used to cool customers, but this was different. Praedyth’s voice border-lined on some sort of crazed aggression. It was never wise to incur the wrath of a Warlock, Kabr assumed that wrath multiplied exponentially when applied to a mother. Add the maddening loss that Praedyth was experiencing, and Kabr did not want to be anywhere near Praedyth when she unleashed her revenge. Kabr - What is this place? Brale - It appears there are platforms phasing in and out between us and that far away cavern wall. Kabr stepped up and looked, his eyesight better then the others. Kabr - There is a pathway on the far wall. If we jump to these platforms we can make it. Brale - Are we sure these things are safe? Praedyth - Only one way to find out. Praedyth kept out from the outcropping and landed on the first platform. It was solid, but not for long. She jumped to a second, third, and fourth platform until she could finally see the path, it was not far from her location. She leapt from the platform and ignored the rest, landing on the pathway. Brale - Well I guess that works. Pahanin - Kabr, should I follow you? Kabr - It is hard to say. With only 3 we will struggle, but I also wish to have the ability to get word to the outside world should this place consume us. Stay where you are for now. Brale jumped next and followed in Praedyth’s footsteps, landing on the far side. Kabr was a little more worried. He never jumped as well as others, Titans are not as light on their feet. Kabr jumped to the first platform, then the second, then the third, and from the fourth platform he decided to jump for it like Praedyth and Brale. It became apparent about half way through the jump that he was not going to make it. He knew he needed a few extra meters to make it. At the last second Kabr activated his Fist of Havoc. The motion gained him a little bit of speed, height, and forward motion; allowing him to barely land on the platform. His blow from the Fist of Havoc cracked the walkway where he landed, and a piece of the very skinny path fell into the abyss. Kabr noted other guardians would not be able to traverse this path solely on foot, they would need to jump around this damage. Brale - Are you OK? Kabr - Fine. Where is Praedyth? Brale - Scouting ahead. I really couldn’t stop her. Kabr moved forward and approached Praedyth, who stood before a door. Praedyth - How strange. Kabr - What? Praedyth - This whole quest we have encountered massive doors for what we assumed were massive Vex…yet this door is small. Kabr - We will not underestimate what we find on the inside. Praedyth - Whatever it is, its time has come. Kabr noticed an icy anger on Praedyth, and he also noticed she carried only one sniper rifle…the one with void damage. Kabr - Where is your other rifle? Praedyth - Left it behind. This one is in need of revenge. The door before them lit up at their approach, and inside they could see Vex walking around. The room was massive and breathtakingly beautiful. Spires of crystal created a triangle shaped room with the crystals coming together at the roofline. Even as Kabr stood there thinking he had never seen the like, he could not break a suspicious feeling that he had been in this place before.
