So after trying with my group for a solid week (about 4-5 hours each day) and getting absolutely wrecked by bugs/lag each time we'd get close, I read a forum post that 100% fixed the issue for us. The post was buried in comments so I thought I'd make a new thread to shine some light on it in hopes that it helps you guys. Last night we were able to wreck Crota twice in a row on HM and honestly it didn't really feel that difficult without all the goddamn bugs!
Here's the gold... IT'S ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE THAT THE SWORD BEARER IS THE HOST. He/she needs to go in the raid first (alone) and then have the rest of the group join on them, this will ensure that they are the host for the game. Once the fireteam joins go ahead and have the sword bearer wipe so you guys can start the fight.
Bugs/lag issues that this completely eliminates:
Disappearing sword
Not being able to pick up the sword
Teleporting swordbearer
Crota standing up instantly and wrecking swordbearer
Crota not going down
Like I said we tried and failed the whole week but once I hosted the game as a swordbearer it was smooth sailing (wrecked him twice in a row once on my titan and once on my hunter). It completely eliminated most of the bugs (knights still don't care about glass apparently). Would love to hear your success stories after you try this. You'll still have to worry about the sword knight running off and hiding but Crota and the bugs will no longer be a threat to you and your crew. Good luck guys!
EDIT TO ADD: You probably need to have a solid internet connection as well for this to work... there's a lot of feedback saying that certain groups have tried this and still noticed lag, I have moderate/ok internet speeds of 27M down/ 4M up... if your swordbro is rocking like a 5M down and .5M up it probably won't matter either way!

7 通の返信You do realize that this game is server side and if it was hosted client side you would have constant host migrations when people dropped out in crucible, strikes, raids and any other activity correct?

1 返信Guardians it makes no difference if you're downloading 50Mbps or 5Mbps when it comes to this game. Latency and your Ping is much more important. I would rather have 5Mbps with 5ms ping then 20Mbps and 50ms ping. The higher speeds will benefit when you're downloading updates, games, movies, etc. I actually tested it and used my phones smart phone hotspot with much lower speeds and no drop off in network performance with only a slight uptick in ping performance. But as always hardwired is still the best option which is what I use.

2 通の返信If you try 4-5hrs a day for a week and don't succeed at Crota, the problem isn't bugs and lag. Yes, swordbearer should be host and it helps tremendously but you CAN'T put blame solely on that.

TAZ__KIDにより編集済み: 2/9/2015 10:29:07 PMI have 60m down and 5m up and everybody came in on me last night yet we still had all of these issues. I am not sure what my ping to servers is but I do know that it changes on the little bar deal on roster. I can run a test while in game on my net and usually still get a 25ms ping 1-2 jitter 0 packet loss and 62m down with 4.6 or so up which the computer I run the test on is wireless and not prioritized and the PS4 is hardwired and has priority with ports fwd and all that good stuff. It took us well over 2 hrs just on crota last night before we managed to kill him and be able to have few enough bugs to do it. We then tried Aetheon on hard and had nothing but bugs even changed hosts multiple times went to orbit and so on. They need to fix the connection issues and bugs in the raids. This vids is somebody with bad connection but the confluxes is a major bug. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg53o0Zh8iM

1 返信Bandwidth has less to do with then people think. Packet loss, latency, these can still be garbage regardless of your bandwidth. Bandwidth is like a freeway, having more is like having more lanes for packets to travel, equaling more users in a household with less slow down. Even with huge bandwidth if moms watching Netflix, dads in the bathroom streaming porn you will have issues.

2 通の返信The group that helped me to beat Crota on hard is also convinced you gotta get rid of all the lag users in the group before you even bother attempting. Anybody with a red connection is told to reboot their router/ps4 or just get better internet before they can join and get her done in that group. The group runs Crota solid and beat Crota consistently for each of my 3 characters last week. 2 of mine are still 31, and I don't have Gjallahorn. They just take a while to get started because they inspect every one and wait for users to get their network working better or give up on them.

2 通の返信Other bugs (as a Hunter sword bearer) include Blink Strike not executing after dropping the Sword, or having Crota at zero health and not receiving credit for the kill, even for several seconds (presumably due to the latency). If these things have already been mentioned my apologies.

1 返信It's not a hundred percent. But it works most of the time. It eliminates a lot of lag.
-
2 通の返信I was also told that the host and sword user need to be plugged directly into their modem, and not be using wifi. Will give your's a try :)

4 通の返信Not not true all the time. We tried that and we still got glitches galore. Our host was Sword holder and he still got show by a down Crota.
-
10 通の返信It probably wouldn't hurt to make the sword bearer host, but you honestly probably got lucky. This wouldn't logically be a fix 100% of the time.

1 返信The sword can still disappear no matter who is the host. But for the rest it does help.

8 通の返信you tried for a week at 4-5 hours a day? So you spent what, 25 hours trying it? Glitches happen, not for 25+ hours though.....

7 通の返信This is nice and all, but it underscores my previous points I got laughed at about people saying VOG and CE were full of bugs, and I said I see a few bugs but most of what people are complaining about are LAG AND LATENCY issues. But I got laughed at and told "Have you ever even raided BRO! Or are you stoned?" That means all these are lag issues, but I'm the idiot.

1 返信Tried running sword for the first time last night. It took a few tries because of some glitches, definitely gonna have to try this next time :)
