Was it necessary? The low impact autos suck balls. Even Suros isn't the end all. Just doesn't seem right.
I think the 2.5% base damage nerf will now put them in the rung occupied by pulse rifles as they will now be vastly superior weapons.
Edit: Just to remind people what should be the ultimate weapon in the game (nechrocasm) is now even worse with this patch.
I don't understand the mindset of people who look at something and say "oh that's quite good and lots of people love using it, lets make it bad".

2.5% is quite insignificant. In fact, in PvP, one shot from an auto rifle doesn't do that much. I don't know the exact number as it's different from gun to gun, but I doubt there will be that noticeable of a difference in damage.

1 返信People will complain about the AR nerf. Then they will try Pulse Rifles to see their buff. Then people will complain about using Pulse Rifles because you can't use them the same as ARs. Then people will go back to their AR. Then people will resume complaining about the AR nerf... This isn't a new song and dance. Every competitive multiplayer FPS with a developer that actually continues to support the game after launch with balancing tweaks does the same thing. The sooner everyone gets the whine out of their system, the better we will all be.
-
3 通の返信It's called the perfect imbalance. They nerf/buff different areas of the game to keep people developing new play styles and keep an interest. Get over it. It's nothing new and your crying isn't going to fix it.
-
How the hell could this possibly not be a good thing? Auto rifles are overused because the long-range ones are broken. Nerfing the long-range ones more is necessary. That's what scout rifles are for. The nerf is really just another part of the pulse rifle buff that is designed to keep things more balanced in terms of average DPS. You can't just buff everything every time it needs balancing.
-
The funny thing is I think people mostly use the auto rifles out of habit from other shooters... They are already garbage in this game, and now will be even worse... It's laughable. Once you get used to a scout or hand cannon, ARs feel like they are shooting marshmallows at the mobs... I'm talking strictly pve.

8 通の返信To create a balanced game is to improve and buff what needs it and leave everything else ALONE!!!

1 返信
Why did you “nerf” my favorite weapon? Why not make the other ones better and leave mine alone?" Good question! Here’s why: We pay close attention to kill times in all game modes against all combatant types. If we brought up all the other weapons to account for lethality spikes that occur in specific situations, then our TTK (time to kill) would get faster with every patch. It is important to us to keep TTK values such that your arsenal feels lethal, but also both allows for some drama while you fight, and creates opportunities for counter-play when you’re being attacked.
Here ya go

Basically, Bungie is approaching this as a bully would. They truly don't understand balance. You don't make things worse and buff what is considered underpowered. You have to bring the weapons that aren't utilized due to their lack of damage and bring them up to par with the rest.

It is such a small damage reduction, why are so many people upset? So an extra bullet or two will be need to make up for the "nerf" big deal. Shottys and pulse rifles got a welcome buff maybe now people will diversify a bit.
