It's the exact same stats as my old one - so not sure what you mean here? All it did was replace my old one with a new one with zero upgrades and the upgrades are the same and will yield identical results
So, you admit the fault is primarily on you then.
The upgrades Xur offers is for things obtained prior to the upgrade patch, specifically exotics capped at 300 max damage or gear capped at 30 max light.
