Is Bungie's "stocking stuffer" the last straw for some Guardians?
Were you happy with your run of the mill legendary weapon? I'm sure most Xmas noobs certainly are! Or do you see this as a missed opportunity for Bungie? An opportunity that could've made the toxic forums explode in positivity instead of all this hatred going on? Let me know what you think. Discuss. Debate. Grow.
(I myself got a Badger CCL. 2 energy basically. I was expecting this but would've been happier with say; 10 heavy synth, a shader, emblem or class item. I still love this game, but think Bungie continues to shoot holes in a sinking ship for some)
Edit 1 (5:04 pm): Thanks for all the responses everyone! Its always interesting to see people from all different walks of life respond to these issues. First thing I've noticed; most Day One players were underwhelmed, indifferent, or think Bungie could have done a better job with the PR on this "freebie". Others are upset that Christmas noobs are getting handed a lot of things. Fair enough. Christmas noobs or even casual players have greatly enjoyed this gift! I'm happy for them as well. I've seen some better options for what could have been done. My favorite: a redeemable token to get any Vanguard or Crucible gun.

I'll be honest, one legendary engram is awesome! I needed a new Scout Rifle for my lowest class, but I at least expected that each of my guardians would get a gift as well, not just one overall. My boys are sad, no Christmas this year. :,(

I was pretty pumped that it would be something great like a choice of 4 exotics. That doesnt mean Im gona rant and rave and stomp like a 5 year old because it wasnt what I wanted. I like destiny for what it is...

6 通の返信Yes. Close to last straw just because of ineptitude on display. As you say, they have delivered us another divisive poorly thought through move that splits the community into bickering. Lovely. Easy solution: Give us a redeemable token where we can actually CHOOSE a gun from a selection, and use our brains. Like in the story missions. Cannot understand why Bungie is so obsessed with lotto tickets. But no, just more RNG BS, feast or famine with winners and losers and everybody grumpy. It's also just really lazy game design. Not to mention giving 3 weeks notice to maximize anticipation and disappointment. (Kind of like the hypefest pre-launch, actually.) Destiny = slot machine + Farmville + guns Moments like this really show it.

2 通の返信It doesn't matter what Bungie gave to the community as a gift, these "toxic forums" would have exploded in anger and hatred even if they gave everyone a Gjallarhorn ("Oh my god, I had to work 32 hours a day, 10 days a week to get Gjallarhorn and you give it to these Christmas noobs for free?!?!?!"). I'm personally trying to stick to positive threads, or ones that have to do with theory on the storyline / good fanfic. I just felt the need to pop in here and offer my 2 cents, for some reason. I'm sorry for having done so.

It didnt bother me at all. I dont care if anyone quits because of it either (seems retarded to me). Play the game or dont, at the end of the day its bungies game regardless & no amount of whining will alter the fact that a game company will do what it wants. P.S. Ive been in alot of forums & this is the whiniest community ive ever seen. Tbh i dont think the community deserved anything anyway, consider yourselves lucky that bungie thought differently. If it was me id,ve led the community on a hunt thru the game for a prize chest which only gave a blue engram & a msg saying in the cryptarchs voice *youve just been trolled, have a nice day*.

If anyone has ever seen the Matrix series, pay close attention to where smith tells neo that the first attempt at building a world was a attempt at pleasing everyone. Building a perfect world. It failed because everyone is different and wants/needs different things. Yea I don't need another weapon or armor. But free items are free items. You should accept this as it is. If that's not good enough for you, ask yourself the question "Did I buy this game for the one reason that I would eventually get something free?" No. You didn't. I didn't. Bitching about this does nothing and will never do anything. Be grateful. Be thankful.

No matter what bungie gave away everyone in this community would still cry. Every hear the saying " it's the thought that counts?" Anyone complaining about a free gift is an ungrateful human and really deserves nothing so I'm happy to see you complain about the gift because YOU specifically don't need it. How about the people trying to play catch up who got the game For Christmas? Just cause the gift was useless to you don't mean it was for Others. People on these Forums make me Sick. Sometimes I wish you could interact physically over the internet cause if you Could I would slap everyone of you you spoiled cry babies up side the head since you Parents apperantly are not doing well enough.

Well they said "stocking stuffer" so if anyone was expecting a huge Christmas parade with lights and Santa costumes is retarded. In all honesty they hinted at it being something most would dismantle, and it wasn't anything big. I just don't see the complaint or the reason anyone should be upset with it... Just my two cents...

It is hilarious that you think this forum community is a true sample size and representation of the destiny gaming community. A free legendary primary is a fantastic gift. Most games give nothing or a consumable like bungie did for Halloween, which "split this toxic community asunder". I said that in a stupid voice which I assumed you sound like.

Doesn't matter..yu give everyone exotics, others will complain abt ppl getting the exotics they alrdy worked for. You giv ppl legendaries, others will complain that legendaries aren't enough. Just a catch-22 the whole way around. No way around it.
