I've noticed that one of the bigger deterrents for forum-goers is the lack of sectioned forums. They reference the new hashtag system as not only disorganized, but also detrimental to the communities previously knit with the threads of bungie.old and its respective forum system.
In my honest opinion, that is the farthest thing from the truth. First off, allow me to get into the organization of bungie.next. As described by employees, the hashtag system allows for a much more accurate way to filter the content that you wish to see. Not only can you create your own hashtags and follow them as if they were their own forum, but you can still view old sectioned forums using hashtags such as #Flood or #Septagon. Yet, for some reason, hardly anyone seems to acknowledge this. The only instances in which content may be filtered incorrectly is when the OP tags his or her threads incorrectly. It is not the fault of the hashtag system, but rather the fault of poor posting. Secondly, I address the supposed community-shattering agenda that the hashtag system has been stamped with. The only community-shattering going on has been a direct result of a plethora of users illogically referencing the above points and using them to justify their subsequent departure from bungie.net.
Please remember that this is only a beta; Every last user's opinion is being considered and changes are being made on a daily basis. Please remember that this is only my opinion; I do not believe that my opinion is fact but I do believe that my argument is both justified and valid.
Now, onto the topic of discussion: Compromise. That word, Compromise, only applies to one side of the argument however; the pro-bungie.old side (We'll refer to that side as the Nostalgic side from now on). The Nostalgic side does not like hashtags. The Nostalgic side does not like things the way they are. The Nostalgic side would rather bungie.net revert back to it's previous layout. The Nostalgic side misses the community. The Next side, however, has embraced the change. The Next side is comfortable with the direction Bungie is taking things. The Next side still detects a sense of community.
I don't see hashtags being removed from bungie.next. I'm sorry, but that feature is most likely going to stay. However, I can imagine hashtags having more uniqueness in the future. I can imagine a sort of compromise between sectioned forums and hashtags, and I think it would be a great idea.
Do you think that a Nostalgic Floodian would consider "#Flood" upon a blank white background a fitting rendition of a once (in)famous forum? Of course not. A disappointingly large amount of members that chose to stay have also chosen to recede into private groups in the hopes of a more Nostalgic experience, and to that I can only ask "Why?" But the answer is apparent.
I propose that all of the main forums found in bungie.old be deemed official and granted unique banners&text akin to the banners that they each had previously. These banners could be placed at the top of the screen behind the #Hashtag and #Trending tags, or even substituted in for the Background banner. In any case, it would make the forums seem more as they did for the past 7+ years. The biggest problem facing Nostalgic users is that each forum is uniform. There lacks a distinct sense of uniqueness surrounding the most popular tags. When everything looks the same, it can seem reasonable to look to somewhere such as a private group for hope. I'm not saying that Bungie hasn't done a fantastic job with their forums - they have. But it is apparent that Bungie will have to please the masses, and I find this proposal to be a great starting point for making the community happy.
Yes, I am aware that there are various other topics that people are displeased with (order of posts, color scheme, etc.), but as I said, this is simply a starting point. This is simply a change that should be made in order to show the community that Bungie really does care. I know in my heart that Bungie cares, but a little reinforcement for those who feel as if they have been betrayed can't possibly be a bad thing.

I guess you could say Im the middle man. I have only few issues with the changes. The first being the lack of separate forums. The second being the order of the posts. Im sure eventually Ill learn how to use hashtag system.

2 通の返信This is a great solution. I have very few problems with the hashtag system, but I feel like it should be secondary form of posting and that Flood, Community, Universe, etc. Forums should be brought back.
