The raid gear has increased drops. So in Crota's end the only level block is shards. Having 3 characters gets you around that.
3 of the same class was a by product of VoG having crappy drop rates on gear. I don't know anyone who doesn't have all the gear, they just need shards.

I'm aware. I was outa town till the sat before Christmas so I've only been able to take that many shots. I'll get 3 more this week and Prob the week after. Still though I know people who have only done it maybe 2 more times than me & are fully kitted out. RNG hates me.
