I always over rev first gear because if i dont hear backfire i think somethings wrong. I know nothings wrong but i cant shake doing it. And when it doesnt happen and im in traffic i spike redline in second to make up for it. I also have those blue blinding headlights everyone hates and still turn my fog lights on also. Sorry

I can pump the gas with the clutch in and rev it out, but it's still a pain in the ass. Just can't afford to fix it yet... x____x [spoiler]Especially bad if/when it happens in the middle of an intersection, or on an on/off ramp with heavy traffic/semis heading right at at you as you rev helplessly...[/spoiler]

Been keeping up with the cleaner once a month between oil changes, however I'll bet you're right about the plugs and wires. I've only had the car a year, but I don't think they've been changed or even checked in over 50,000 miles. =\ That'll have to go on my to-do list next time I get her in a garage. For an 05 Aveo Im just glad it's still running. Lol
