If we're speaking about gameplay mechanics alone, Destiny was an above-average first-person-shooter. Beyond that, Destiny was redundant, trite and stale in almost every other category.
Destiny seemed like it had become a victim of its own hype, making players believe they were getting something they simply did not. Perhaps that void was a coherent story, level variation and a substantive campaign experience -- all of which were arguably nowhere to be found
inb4 this thread is pillaged by Bungie nuthuggers. Glad to see more media outlets are commenting on this game's glaring shortcomings, such as the pretty much non-existent story.
This game has amazing gameplay mechanics, and this just amplifies the disappointment when it comes to the blatant laziness Bungie showed towards pretty much every other facet of the game.
Edit:
For all of you dismissing CNET, Polygon doesn't have a positive view of Destiny or the expansion either.. along with other sites such as Forbes.
Polygon article: https://games.yahoo.com/news/destiny-dark-below-review-no-225853543.html
The Dark Below is the perfect expansion for Destiny — it's just as grandiose and ultimately shallow as the main game.
Destiny suffered from two glaring problems at launch: a lack of content, and a lack of variety in that content. Those issues were compounded by the game's MMO-inspired structure, a progression system that forced players to repeat the same few activities ad nauseam in order to rank up.
As a quote-unquote expansion to Destiny, The Dark Below is presumably meant to address those two major concerns.
In most respects, it fails.
Looking forward to the excuses and illogical arguments to come; some of you provide the lulz.

1 返信Can't argue with this at all. I wanted to love Destiny, but just don't. I'd have traded it in by now if I hadn't preordered the DLC. That, and I do still enjoy the social aspect of the game.

But we are supposed to ignore reviews according to either Bungie or Activision as the review process does not work for this sort of game....lol.... Thats like sayingI mess something up, but don't judge me on it as it will be you being wrong in judging me....

8 通の返信This is a simple truth about Destiny. CNET was accurate. Angry Joe was accurate. If you disagree, wow. If you find Destiny to have a thrilling campaign, you're just...wow. No words.

2 通の返信Cozyman Camにより編集済み: 12/14/2014 12:55:49 PMOh no! This cannot be! How can they do this?! How will I ever enjoy playing Destiny knowing that there is a negative review out there on the internet? Do you think that I will still be able to enjoy Destiny as I've enjoyed every other product that has had negative reviews on the internet?
Yes, I am being sarcastic. Yes, I am a vindictive asshole. Yes, I can be melodramatic. Yes, I do not pay attention to "professional" critics because they do not possess the same preferences as I do. Does that make me a Destiny fanboy? No, it does not. Does my positive opinion of Destiny make me a Bungie sheép? No, it does not. I've decided that I enjoy the game. I do not require others to decide whether or not I ought to enjoy a game.
3 通の返信Nethrinoxにより編集済み: 12/13/2014 5:55:17 PMI found a game that fulfilled all of Destiny's promises. It's called Far Cry 4. -Cool story with interesting characters. -Massive game world where you can go anywhere you can see in the distance with no "out of bounds" messages to be seen. -Tons of upgradable guns. -Actual procedurally generated game experiences everywhere you go. -No grinding at any point. -Muthafukin rhinos! Arguably Alot of the game play is repative, and most of it lacks longevity which makes much of the game a Grind However I must say I'm hooked, and enjoy it Loving the new raid, haven't done a lot with it yet, but what is have done - I've enjoyed Can't wait to see the new weapons when I get them, and playing three characters is certainly filling my time up And the thing I'm enjoying most is the people in play with and raid with, all be it mostly strangers I live in uk and often play with Americans, which I find to be witty, humourous and full of banter.... So perhaps the game does fail in parts, but a community full of people with a vested interest definitely makes this game greater than the sum of its parts!

This is pretty spot on in my opinion. I only enjoy the game when I play with friends. Its a chore for me to play otherwise. This is coming from a guy who has the game for two different consoles. I really had high hopes for this game, but so far I am underwhelmed and disappointed. I still see potential and won't give up on it yet but it definitely didn't live up to the hype bungie put into it.

DukeOfStuffingにより編集済み: 12/14/2014 12:31:43 PMI seriously doubt the folks who actually made the game were entirely surprised by the reviews, and probably expected this much the same. Its been a steady stream of damage control since launch. Destiny clearly had trouble in development. Let's all hope that doesn't translate too much into the sequel. Also, isn't CNET where you go to download malware and toolbars?

as7311により編集済み: 12/14/2014 1:03:43 PMLove this Game More than i do Others the Only one that can hold this Level is the First halo in the original xbox. Others suck. And if you compare the Story of one halo Game it is Not much more than in destiny btw. But People just Expected so much and now they can't live with their frustrating life's. I would say just look at the playtime of some people including me. That should just say enough to the freaky destiny haters

I don't care what other people say about the game. I care what I say about the game. Yes, it's got issues. Yes, this dlc was overpriced for the amount of content. No, I will not stop playing. Yes, I will get house of wolves. Yes, I will still play after that. I enjoy the game. Those that don't can go on with whatever they want to do instead. Doesn't bother me.

No one has a positive review for the DLC, they all say it made the game worse if anything. I like the forums but im close to trading the game in to Walmart for credit, haven't played in awhile and logged in last night to see what changed. I was hit with the reality that the 100 hours or more i put in(thats a TON for a casual gamer like me) is rendered useless along with many weapons and gear. I really hope they make this game what it can be someday. It's just so much potential. I mean, it grabbed me for a long time and got me on these forums, so it was indeed fun, but they have to make some changes.

1 返信We all should form our own opinions on something rather than just agree with other people's opinions. Not everyone likes everything, I don't like Harry Potter or The Twilight series, but millions and millions of others do. We can all find faults and short comings, but the difference is you're still here and playing the game! I'm not on the Watchdogs site complaining how I felt the game lacked any Endgame content...
