Surely there's some cinematic you forgot to include.. or something. Surely you wouldn't have such a minuscule amount of story in this expansion after the complete backlash from release.
Please tell me this is a joke.
Edit:
So let me get this straight.
You faced a huge, negative backlash for the terrible and short story you gave us at release. You said you heard us, and that we were going to get more in the expansion. The expansion is here, and this is what you gives us?
3 missions, the first of which takes 5 minutes at most, while the other two are the standard ~15 minute missions.
No cinematics.
Eris hardly talking, but when she does, half the time she's not saying anything meaningful other than "kill X before Y!".
80% of the areas in the story missions are rehashed from previous missions.
You can't be serious Bungie. This is pathetic. What's your problem? Is this a matter of arrogance, cluelessness or both? For $20, this is a pitiable amount of story you've given us. Quite frankly, in light of the overwhelming criticism you've received story wise already, this is unacceptable.
Edit #2:
To those saying that the raid/strike are part of the story too: I watched streams of the raid. Just lol@the idea of it providing any real amount of story. The strike is your typical 10-15 minute strike. Do the other strikes provide story? No? Then what makes you think it's different this time around?
Besides all of that, wouldn't it be logical to assume that the STORY missions would provide the bulk of the STORY in this situation? If the story provided in the missions is terrible and substance-less, what makes you think the raid/strike, which don't revolve around story, will make the story any better?
Critical thinking, not even once.
Edit #3:
To those saying we should have known what we were buying, or that Bungie told us what would be in the DLC:
Woosh. That's the sound of you completely missing the point. Yeah, Bungie told us we'd have 3 story missions. What Bungie DIDN'T tell us is that these 3 story missions would be incredibly anemic/rehashed. The first mission takes 5 minutes, ffs. So no, Bungie did not tell us everything. There was absolutely no way we could have known beforehand just how lazy the implementation was going to be.
Edit #4:
To those saying that this game isn't about story, or that shooter's in general don't have good stories:
First of all, your statement is completely irrelevant. Second,
Embark on an epic action adventure with rich cinematic storytelling
That quote is taken directly from the website, from Bungie. Obviously the company you're white-knighting so hard doesn't agree with you.
Also, are we going to just ignore the fact that Bungie was the creator of Halo, one of the best shooters ever created, with GREAT story telling at the same time? Can someone explain how Bungie can create a shooter like Halo with adequate story-telling, yet completely fail years later in their next IP?
Gears of War is also another shooter that had great story-telling. Obviously great stories and shooters are not mutually exclusive.

This is why I didn't buy the expansion. I waited to see the streams first and know what they were giving out in reality. Once I saw the 1 raid and 1 strike mission for $20 I immediately deleted the game from my hard drive. I was hoping they would redeem themselves by fixing their initial mistake and actually "listening" to their fans, but Activision obviously has their claws in to deep. It had the potential of being great, but I guess they are ok with a participation ribbon.

I love this game and will sink a lot more time into it but have to agree the story is a bit weak. The second mission made no sense. When you found Rasputin, Dinklebot was amazed that a warmind had survived and it wasn't just legend. Now Eris tells you the music means he's unhappy, he never invites people in, etc. Which is it? Lost legend or system that Eris knows intimately?

Sitting here in awe of the EULA screen I managed to not have to "accept" yesterday. Thinking about how.. shady.. it is to release this crapfest then make people sign an agreement saying they can't do anything about it.

1 返信FlatbushFatihにより編集済み: 12/10/2014 11:27:04 AMMan I love to play Destiny, but it's sadly true. The only thing about Destiny wich I don't like is the story, and it should have more. I like what they are giving me in this DLC, it's just not enough to keep me satisfied. Example: The first thing I said to my party was: wuut? so she's just here in the tower? No cinematic about how she 'landed' with her ship? okay.. I Can see this in a second, and i'm not imaginative at all, i couldn't write a great story..but see it as a shortcoming instantly. Example 2: You are playing the missions and loving it. and before you know it they are already over. It's like having an epic delicious icecream, only to notice that it is already melting. It really is too short.. I didn't had much time yesterday to play ..but I do love the strike though, not gonna lie . Omnigul was pretty epic. and i will be Raiding this weekend. weekly and nightfalls should be a challenge. just gimme more pls Edit: I know the grimoire cards have alot of added information and i find them rather interesting. Its just that I forget them quickly. I'm just a visual type of guy, I remember and emerge more by seeing than reading and epic cutscenes really do the trick for me . I'm sure people can relate to that. Like i said, i still think destiny is awesome. Alot of updates are awesome, and some seems like weird choices to me. I hope they will take the right path with future content. Not only my 'needs' offcourse, but to please the majority(cant please everyone)

4 通の返信lch6257により編集済み: 12/10/2014 4:49:34 PMHere is the story. You are a revived guardian amongst a group of guardians struggling to save the last city on earth from being overtaken from threats. In this chapter, the Dark Below, Crota is brought back by the Hive and all there friends and wants to destroy that last Earth city. You must fight to protect it from happening. That is all. No more story needed. There is no more information at this point in Destiny for there to be more of a story. You fight to defend earth. What do you want to see? Who is banging who within the guardian ranks? The story of a poor struggling earth family whose father has gone off to defend there existence. It is all implied, Become Legend by protecting earth. The story in Destiny is the one you make by your choices for adventure. Pretty simple. Kill stuff, train to kill in crucible, kill more stuff. Its a shooter. The story is how do you become stronger (Legend) based on your decisions of how to face and repel the threat.... Edit: The grimoire is the legend. It is history and facts discovered after all was lost. You have a fighting chance. Maybe the problem is that many just don't like the story, but it is the story. Not really much different from Halo story, but plays light years better than Halo. Edit 2: DLC2 - House of Wolves, more bad guys want to destroy earth. Find the means to stop it. The story is war.

1 返信Why are you so surprised? We should've expected this after the Queens Wrath fiasco. I'm not surprised at all. If anything, bungie perfectly met my expectations.

1 返信Halo was not one of the greatest just a popular one. Honestly though, if this is really the same company all the XBox kiddies dropped to their knees and opened their mouths for...then how the -blam!- did Bungie ever get so popular? !

3 通の返信Bungie has been infected with "Activisionism" A problem where greed outweighs decent game development and ethical product delivery.

3 通の返信If they had taken all the grimoire and placed in the game in the form of cutscenes, do think anyone should be hating on the story as much as they are?
honest question
4 通の返信It's simply not a story based game, there's no reason to keep playing this hoping it will somehow become one. The game is purposefully vague to make you focus more on the experiences you actually have in the game.

2 通の返信They call this an expansion? Bungie wtf ! Look at the Total War series (pc ) that serie exists till today because of the fact that they are great games ( base and expansions) and you guys build a base game with zero story and claim that everything will be explained in the expansion. Then the expansion comes out with zero story ! I mean come on you guys know how to wright a story ( Halo series ) and now you lost this ability ? I regret to have bought that season pass hoping that the expansion , would be an EXPANSION in every sense of the word with good content and gear + weapons. I was clearly mistaken , Bungie set yourself straight and your team or you will be in free fall against the other upcoming and released titles ! This game has potential bit it would be a shame if it just would be a game with just potential and nothing more :s
