I am being forced to write this here because in no way have I been able to contact Bungie support, which, given the 500 million spent (I believe it was the figure in the news) making Destiny I am amazed at a lack of ability to contact any kind of employee or official representative.
My problem is simple. Today, whilst playing, my friend received a purple engram which resulted in a gold exotic weapon, lucky him. I then received an exotic bounty which allowed me to be excited and my friend set about to help me.
First it was a strike, then it was farming the Hive, and then, the next part is basically impossible for me and I am truly surprised and legitimately upset that Bungie could do something so … short sited.
It has told me that I have to get 500 points using void damage in the crucible with my favorite part, a penalty for death.
So, here is my problem. The crucible is controlled by exemplary players, and good for them. What I don't understand is that whatever weapon I use. I can barely do any damage to them and they can kill me in 1 or 2 shots. This has resulted in me being able to get a score of about 30 (out of 500, the bounty requirement), only to lose it all immediately. To reiterate, it takes points away from the bounty WHEN YOU DIE. Any small gain I make (Say in 10 minutes) is gone within the next 1 or 2.
On top of that, I am not a skilled crucible player and I won't ever be. I don't have the time, nor the ability. I am that player that always comes last. I always have a low kill count and a high death ratio. This hasn't really been a problem for me because I have been able to muck around with my friend doing strikes and avoiding the humiliation of the crucible.
So, I really want to know, from someone official from Bungie, why they would do something so completely unpleasant. My friend got his exotic weapon doing patrols on the moon, that was all he had to do, and we only play for about an hour a day. Again, we only play for an hour a day, that's all the time we have, no MANY hours a day.
Thinking the system was going to be fair for me, I was excited about the Exotic bounty but now I am looking at it realizing that it is impossible for me to achieve. I could accept him being lucky, that's the nature of the poor quality of design on modern games, but it's dangling my own exotic weapon in front of me that I will NEVER be able to achieve, not with any amount of help from other players or any way at all.
In all honesty, this really makes me very put off by the game and I am sorry I foolishly spent $90 on it at release, I honestly wasn't expecting to be frustrated so incredibly by a part of the game that is absolutely impossible for me to achieve because of the domination of other players.
My opinion of this is that it stinks, that the designers responsible for this are idiots and that Bungie are completely out of touch with mature, adult players that just want to enjoy a purchase they have made.
In the end we all play games to feel a bit better, my friend is now having a great time with his exotic weapon and I feel completely and utterly demeaned in trying to get my own personal reward because of a requirement that forces me to be constantly humiliated by players that either have better Internet connections, more time to play a lot more or are simply more dextrous that me.
Irrespective of the reason I just want to know, from an official person at Bungie why they think it's ok to place this impossible requirement on a part of the game I am trying to progress at. And in the end, given the monotony of the same missions over and over and over and over again, the only real sense of reward I can get from the game comes from a better item here and there.
What I hate the most is that I can't even trade this bounty in for a purple item, or something that I can actually use, I will never be able to get good enough at the crucible to achieve this result and this experience has left me with feelings of negativity that are the absolute antithesis of why I play video games.
Update:
I wanted to thank all of you for posting your opinions. As I always stated, I wanted some kind of explanation from the company behind the product but that's no longer here nor there.
I decided to take the most common advice, which was to get Aetheon's Epilogue. Prior to this I didn't want to bother with the RAID because I had limited time and a LOT of other things to do, but on Saturday night I decided to give it a try.
I used destiny team finder to get into a group and will concede that I had a lot more fun than I ever expected. The players were funny, and interesting and VoG is challenging enough that I remained focussed and entertained, I haven't received Aetheon's Epilogue, but I did get Void of Confluence and Universal Remote which I'm told is quite an exceptional weapon even though I don't think I do that well with a shotgun.
In all I feel more satisfied now. I really enjoyed the RAID and will do my best to set aside some time on an evening when I don't have social commitments to run through it. I am still quite terrible at the crucible and despite a lot of unnecessarily aggressive answers coming from certain people that lack empathy here I believe I have a route where I can have some fun with the game and that possibly the source of my unhappiness before was coming from a sense of progression and the frustration at having been denied this by a part of the game I have no real chance at.
For those that lack empathy this is something you probably can't fathom and I can't help you. Maybe someone out there can and I would suggest you contemplate getting help. Even if this is just your Internet persona it shows that there are underlying issues in your psyche that could manifest themselves violently towards a spouse or even be causing you depression.
Do not discount empathy, it is a very powerful part of human maturity and growth.
Thank you kindly.

1 返信SirMangにより編集済み: 12/7/2014 1:32:05 AMDo the normal Raid. Get Atheon's Epilogue. Finish bounty in an hour or two. Laugh. Then cry when it's time to try to kill Xyor.

Two points here. First, it's an exotic. It shouldn't just be handed to you. Second, go buy a void shotgun and just camp. If you camp and can't get at least .7 k/d (which I think means positive points), then you probably should go play Pokemon or Barbie Dream House. It isn't that hard. I'm decent at pvp but by no means a star. It took me about 6 games with a fusion rifle to get 500 points. Maybe 7-8. Point is, it's set up to HELP you get there but not HAND you an exotic. It's pretty well designed in my view (as are most of the exotic bounties).

2 通の返信Why is everyone hating on this only one bounty which requires a crucible score. There are so many other exotics and bounties which aren't tied to the crucible at all. If one of them is tied to crucible and you think you can't do it... Abandon it and look for another. If you can't achieve it... You don't deserve it.

Get some friends and go to RUMBLE mode. It's a free for all everyone against everyone and "no teams" Then go to a secluded area of map and have your friends continuously run to where you are and allow you to shoot them in the face repeatedly. Also do not turn the full bounty in until after the DLC cause the old thorn will have a lower attack then the new thorn after DLC comes out. Welcome to Bungies hamster wheel of silly gear grinding. Enjoy.

I am decent at crucible since I come from COD/halo background but I still avoid it. I think it lacks balance. This bounty is definitely a pita but is doable. I assume you don't have Atheons epilogue? If you do just use that and play crucible as normal. If you don't (I didn't at the time) you are going to want to purchase the comedian and or the 77 wizard. If you can get the swarm as well that helps. Opinions vary but I found playing crucible to be the easiest method. Other game types are not as popular and increase your chances of running into highly skilled players. The strategy is simple. Camp your ass off. Camp the control points with the comedian or the 77 wizard. Learn the drop points for the heavy ammo and try to get it if you can. Spray enemies repeatedly with the swarm. It will take a while but you can do it. This is imo the hardest exotic bounty in the game.

Honestly I had to do this myself and I was able to do it in about 3 hours. However if you aren't that good just get in the crucible and play around with different weapons. If you aren't that good I suggest auto rifle and shotgun.

As a terrible Crucible player myself (at least at the time of this bounty, I'm a LITTLE better now), I know how asinine this quest seemed at first. But I stuck with it and got the mediocre gun that was Thorn, and I loved it for the most part. If it was still as "meh" as it used to be, I'd agree that the progress loss should be removed, but now that it's been buffed into one of the best and most unique guns in the game, I honestly don't think it should be easy to obtain. It's one of the only items I truly feel like I worked for, and got a fitting reward for the effort.

Solution. Go to vanguard and buy the comedian shotgun and if you can afford it also get the swarm. Enter rumble. Find a section of the map. Camp, you will get hate but itl bw worth it. Good luck with the strike afterwards

2 通の返信I've had this bounty for 2 months. I managed to get to 112 points and then lost it all. As a hunter my only option is special and heavy weapons. In this respect this bounty is not balanced between classes. Certain classes have a clear advantage in completing it. I hate crucible and do not have fun playing. Especially the way this bounty penalizes you for dying - which in PvP you die a lot. It also forces you to basically kill camp. I do not see how it is fun to crouch in a corner and wait for hapless players to walk past and then hope I can melee shotgun them. I honestly think there should be a choice of PvP and PvE options to the exotic bounties. Or at the very least remove the penalty on death or lock in points from previous matches.

1 返信atpbx1により編集済み: 12/6/2014 10:08:17 PM"The crucible is controlled by exemplary players" Is it -blam!-. I am terrible at crucible and hate it with a passion but I managed to do the crucible part of the thorn bounty and ended up dispatching it in an hour and a half. It's an exotic bounty, you've got to work for it. If you can't do it, unlucky you are not good enough, discard it and carry on.

Easy way to do it: jump in rumble with your friend, find a spot that's quiet on the map and wait there for your friend to come and continuously kill him as he respawns. Might take a while but you'll die at a lot less

3 通の返信I'm going around for the second time with the same bounty. The weapon is worth the pain. It is my second favourite exotic. Icebreaker is number on. Granades granades granades. Practice sticking players. Play only control and camp bases. Either snipe using void or toss granades. Dont try to get it all done at once. Play a couple games and then chill out doing something else. It is frustrating but it is possible. Get a couple friends if you can to act like body guards and soften the targets for you. It is a very cool gun.

3 通の返信They made it the way it is for one simple reason. Exotics are top shelf goods. Yes your friend got lucky... Very lucky. But the gun you are going for, thorn (my gun since pre-buff/pre-nerf) is ONLY obtained from this bounty. If you see someone with the gun you now know what they went through to get it. As for advice for you, play badly. Get yourself a void fusion/shotgun and camp. Kill whoever you see and repeat. It takes FOREVER but you will get there. Image lore of the gun is dark and the way it makes you play to obtain it is not honourable.

Rogue Alpha Sixにより編集済み: 12/6/2014 8:18:21 PMVoid damage shotgun, play control and stick with a beast player on your team. Or just protect one of the zones around a corner and blast whoever comes in. It's what I had to do as I'm not very good in the crucible either. Took me about 7 matches to complete because I was "camping" for safety.
