Edit: It sounds like a lot of people leaving comments have not had such great experiences with these sites. Here are some things to look for when choosing someone to join/pick up.
1. I hate to say it, but if their post is well-written, that's a fantastic sign. That USUALLY speaks to maturity, or at the very least, semi-intelligence. If they use text speak, or misspell a lot of words, I don't even bother.
2. Look at the information they list. The post should contain Level, Class, and weapon level at the very least. Usually people will add what they are trying to do, if they have a checkpoint, or if they are looking for one.
3. When messaging someone to ask for an invite, be sure to include your own information. I have to say, it is kind of annoying to get ten messages that just say "inv" after taking the time to post detailed information on three different websites. And half the time, the people that send those messages don't meet the criteria I lay out.
4. If you're the one looking to put a group together, don't be afraid to be picky. A few extra minutes to find someone that meets your criteria could save you hours of play time.
I hope at least one person finds this helpful. It's how I always choose people to raid with. Some lemons get through every now and then, but it's a pretty decent method. Oh, and you can always use the super secret test to determine if the person you just invited to your raid group is useful... ASK THEM IF THEY KNOW HOW TO USE THE RELIC!
If you don't know how to use the relic, do everyone a favor and at least look up the controls. I'm sure there are how to videos as well. It's not difficult, and you may have to pick it up when fighting Atheon.
I really, very much, appreciate and respect higher level, more experienced players lending their assistance to fellow gamers. This is what I like to see. It's way better than platform wars.
Edit: Someone made a great point in the comments. (I apologize for forgetting your name in the time it took to scroll up and hit "edit".) A lot of people are citing a lack of time as the main reason they have not even attempted the raid. There are checkpoints throughout the raid. If you're experienced, or playing with a group that is, each checkpoint should take around fifteen or twenty minutes, give or take.
These checkpoints save until the end of the Destiny week, a.k.a Tuesday morning. At that point, they all reset unless you're still signed in and playing during the reset time. Any completion at that point will save for the current week.
The point is, if you can get about an hour in every day, that gives you seven hours to complete the raid. Using a group forged from one of the websites above really lends itself to that. People don't mind so much if you bail, as long as you let them know that you have limited time at some point BEFORE you back out. Then, when you have some more time to spare, you can find another group and pick up where you left off.
Happy raiding during the next few days! I will be busy with the dlc.

7 通の返信Never have, probably never will. I'm not in it for the max level or trophies or whatever. I just want to have fun man...

3 通の返信I'll just go out and say it... I'm too scared. I know, I know, it sounds really stupid, but Atheon seems a bit.. intimidating. It can't just be me, right? Also, my friends almost never play, so they are all around level 15.

Also it is a good idea for everyone to have one common language 1 language everyone can understand It is very hard to communicate even with a translator I personally like to relay the information to the person whom I'm teaching directly But sometimes it just won't work so a translator is always awesome :D

3 通の返信The only reason I haven't completed the raid is because my luck is horrible and I can only play on weekends (I'm super busy during the week). Anyway I've been stuck on lvl 24 for a few weeks now and I can't find anything with more light, at the moment I'm just saving for a bunch of future war cult armour

2 通の返信PatmanCg3により編集済み: 12/6/2014 2:30:48 AMDon't own the game yet, I only rent on weekends when Redbox is feeling generous. Upgrading hardware soon wouldn't make sense to buy the game outright for last Gen console. Also don't have a mic, which I hear is important. Will not get new one either because of fast approaching upgrade.

3 通の返信Level 29 Titan. I've only completed the VoG once with an experienced team. Have a decent grasp of what to do besides Aetheon. Would like to do it again before DB. I've got a maxed truth. Only Raid weapon is the shotty. Usually run a maxed legendary scout rifle with an almost maxed epitaph or the supremacy (was saving shards for after DLC) Will be available most of the weekend after 5:00 pm Central today. 3 通の返信I have no microphone or headset, and currently am stuck with a Type 3 NAT on a DSL connection..would love to do the raid though. Also a bit leery of jumping into the community at large based on experiences in other games.

5 通の返信I have a 29th level Titan and I have not done VoG. I have tried many times to get a group together without success. So to be honest with you, I have given up on the raid and am praying that Bungie will come out with a "Raid Finder" type application so those of us who have limited play time and not a lot of online friends can actually experience the raid. I did not take your question as being rude or as you put it a jerk. Most people I know (Different platform) have done the raid many times. But seriously, when you have a limited amount of time to play for me maybe eight hours a week; how much time should I be expected to spend running around the tower trying to put a group together? I think Bungie forgot that not everyone has a smart phone or tablet in their gaming environment, waiting with baited breath for someone to reply from a third party web-site raid organizing system in order to play. Why Bungie did not incorporate a raid finder type application is beyond me.

It's so nice to see people offer to help. I'm seeing lots of really cool people on the forms tonight it's awesome . I don't have time now but want to try a raid soon. It's really kind of scary if you haven't done it .. you just don't want to let anybody down
