Bungie: I stopped playing World of Warcraft for the exact reasons you just announced.

Time is something a player cannot get back. The fact that all of our hard-work counts for precisely nothing is the most infuriating thing about this. I got so tired of seeing Blizzard make all the rats race from endgame to endgame and the fact that without fail, you start over and over with each expansion as if nothing you did before mattered. The sense that your accomplishments mean nothing when a new expansion comes out is the biggest turn-off and does nothing but gut morale. You tell us that we will be able to upgrade to the latest and greatest: what you failed to tell us was that you removed the planetary mat grind so that we could focus more on rep grinding now with the introduction of commendations. It wasn't enough that we could earn marks and buy our gear, but now we need to make sure to continue to pointlessly grind out faction reputation, just so we can buy a piece of gear. To add insult to injury, our exotics that we spent our TIME working to max out will be reset. Yes, there are no longer Ascendant materials involved, but what about all the time the players put into grinding out their gear? Not only their exotics, but their legendaries as well? Well Bungie has an answer for that: You can buy all new gear after you grind more. Instead of expanding the world of Destiny in a vast and meaningful way by adding a large amount of content to explore, we instead get a scrap of content in an expansion that we will just continue grinding on. This clearly indicates to me that Bungie has no intention of removing tedious grinding when they just replace one type for another. I know that I can't be the only one who feels this way. If you do, like this post and let it float there for Bungie to see. I'm disappointed with the way this game is headed and I already feel like I have wasted my time. I do not see how the content being added is going to make the grind any more enjoyable, but that will just remain to be seen. Sincerely, A Disappointed Fan Update 1: Thanks for the likes and the comments. I know there are many pissed off people right now. The apologists can say what they want, but there are too many voices to silence, and my thread is just one of many. Hopefully, Bungie does the right thing and decides to fix this punch in the gut. Update 2: This exactly. http://www.inquisitr.com/1652840/destiny-grind-now-more-convoluted-with-exotic-and-legendary-changes/ Update 3: Thank you kbdillard. http://www.destructoid.com/destiny-s-latest-patch-notes-are-a-disaster-in-terms-of-communication-284554.phtml Update 4: Destiny is not WoW. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82248847/0/0 Update 5: The argument being made that entertainment is a waste of time is subjective. Just because it is entertainment, does not mean that there is not work involved. I posit: Since you have to work to achieve where you are in Destiny, to undo that work is a waste of time and effort. The definition of 'work': From: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/work NOUN Activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result By definition, we have all worked to achieve where we are in Destiny. Regardless of the fact that there is a label attached to categorize video games as entertainment, this does not negate the fact that there is work involved for our efforts. I invite cogent arguments to debunk this. Video games are still work.
