I'm okay with the upgrading exotics through RNG/Xur a week and the glimmer cost, but making us re-level the whole damn weapon/armor? Maybe I might be getting my panties in knots over nothing but seems kind of counter productive.
I know, I know it doesn't take that long to level a piece of gear up, but couldn't they just add more nodes to the tree?
Yes, I will shut up now, and still play the hell out of this game regardless. - Meg
EDIT: Seems people are thinking I am advocating a free ride to the new version exotics, I am not. I want some kind of work involved in that respect. I would like to seem some compensation for the time/materials/work invested into the old version exotics, for instance more upgrade nodes.

I am a very skeptical of Destiny. Personal opinions that I have that don't need to get brought up here but, upgrading exotics is not a huge issue. Nor is it an issue that needs to be flung around like its a huge slight against the player. My reasoning behind this is because you are going to replace these current exotics with new exotics. Ultimately you don't have to upgrade to the new version. You can just use it until you find a new version, or a brand new exotic. If you have a favorite exotic by all means upgrade it. You're going to be upgrading other new, probably better items that drop in the new stuff. Apparently in one of the new quests they give you an exotic fusion rifle, at least that's what I read in the game informer write up. Think about it, let it sit and cooler heads will prevail. What we should be concerned about is are these "exotic quests" the story missions they spoke about, or is it story driven content to tie the missions into the strike and raid. I'm confused about it, and my purchase will definitely hinge on that.

6 通の返信I don't care about re leveling, it's the reset perks that has me concerned.. Does that mean a reshuffle? Only exotic I really use is icebreaker so not really a huge deal.

13 通の返信Deerhunter7161により編集済み: 12/3/2014 8:09:08 PMI am fine with the shard BUT I am not fine waiting and hoping Xur has the correct upgrade for me this week or 5 weeks down the road... And making us regrind all the perks is BS.

Slayride77により編集済み: 12/3/2014 8:39:24 PMNot necessarily a bad thing. I'll take that versus having to RNG better weapons. Figure the upgraded exotics are going to be better than the legendary new gear anyhow. I've just sharded all my old legendaries in prep for new ones. I'm not upgrading any exotics at all this week in prep for new upgrades. As much as people are complaining, this is a good thing that former MMORPG players know. New gear always meant your high end gear was useless after DLC. This way your high end gear is still worthwhile.

5 通の返信They aren't making you do anything. You just have that option to have the higher attack rating if you don't want to wait on new exotics or legendaries. You can feel free to leave the weapons how they are.

Hagalaz-27により編集済み: 12/3/2014 8:46:19 PM"The upgrade will reset the progression invested into the item" Maybe if they moved the exotic perk(s) to the first row, underneath the Damage Type and other perks that automatically come switched on when you first acquire the exotic (like automatic fire, for instance). I don't mind grinding for additional damage levels above 300, but at the risk of using a word that everyone hates, exotic perks on fully-upgraded weapons have already been earned.

2 通の返信I wonder what will happen with old exotics that you get from a drop after the DLC launches? For instance, I don't have GHorn yet. So if the DLC comes out with the new leveling mechanic for exotics and I happen to get GHorn from a night fall or raid drop, will I have to level it to 300 and THEN take it to Xur to upgrade it to the new level cap and level it up all over again? That would be some BS. Perhaps you could just upgrade it to the new cap right away so that the reset of the upgrade tree essentially doesn't change because there was no experience to reset. I hope that's the case.
