I'm okay with the upgrading exotics through RNG/Xur a week and the glimmer cost, but making us re-level the whole damn weapon/armor? Maybe I might be getting my panties in knots over nothing but seems kind of counter productive.
I know, I know it doesn't take that long to level a piece of gear up, but couldn't they just add more nodes to the tree?
Yes, I will shut up now, and still play the hell out of this game regardless. - Meg
EDIT: Seems people are thinking I am advocating a free ride to the new version exotics, I am not. I want some kind of work involved in that respect. I would like to seem some compensation for the time/materials/work invested into the old version exotics, for instance more upgrade nodes.

12 通の返信Lordsa Jar-Jarにより編集済み: 12/3/2014 11:34:51 PMI just read the preview, so they going to make us relevel all our exotics which took us so long to get maxed out, well that's just bullshit, that's where I draw the line. I'm not going to be releveling gear which I already maxed out that's just so pointless I can't even begin to describe it.

2 通の返信I think the reason bungie is doing this is because they want to encourage us to try and get the new exotics rather than just level up our existing ones. I don't agree with it but I understand what they are trying to accomplish

1 返信Dafuq? If an update resets my progress in other games I at least get all my skill points/materials back.

x_8-BitZombie_xにより編集済み: 12/4/2014 3:03:10 AMThis is simply a way for Bungie to artificially prolong the length of our experience in Destiny. Now if we want to use a specific weapon that we have built "personal relationships" with as Bungie had indicated we would we will need to continue playing until Xur happens to have the upgrade for that specific piece of gear; then we need to spend 14 strange coins (7 for a shard to upgrade the gear and another 7 to max it out,) a great deal of glimmer (which is still capped making this even more annoying,) a ton of materials, and a massive amount of experience just to re-establish that relationship and make our gear relevant again. Essentially this is Bungie saying "Hey, thanks for playing countless hours grinding the same content over and over again in order to prepare for new content; now you can spend countless hours re-grinding because all of the gear you have needs to be upgraded in order to make a difference during the end game of the new content you were preparing for. Oh, and before we forget don't get too attached to any of this because in 3 months we will probably do the same exact thing..." Playing video games for many people is about creating a sense of achievement; having the developer tell you that in order to progress you must redo what you have achieved is insulting. As for those of you who say this is no different than any other RPG or MMO, and that expansions mean replacing your old gear; the truth is, you are wrong. Gear in Destiny isn't like gear in WoW or Diablo where getting an expansion means grinding for new gear to replace your old gear; you don't build attachments to gear in those games in the same way that you do in Destiny, by the time you get to the expansion content you have more than likely replaced your gear hundreds of times, in many cases you may have not used any single piece for more than a couple hours or days before hitting max level. Destiny on the other had is completely different, after hitting level 20 you begin creating a relationship with your gear and your load out; and replacing that gear isn't as simple as finding something new and it being immediately an improvement. Replacing your gear in Destiny is an investment; it means spending time, effort, and resources to build a relationship with that gear, a relationship that we've been told would evolve and carry over with us throughout Destiny's future. Being told that all of that time and effort was pointless and will need to be repeated over and over again with each passing expansion is a slap in the face. You can say what you will about it and defend Bungie as much as you like; but this system is not in our interest, it's in the interest of keeping their numbers up and ensuring we are playing longer that's it.

4 通の返信This community has more crybabies than a nursery ward at a childrens hospital ffs Want to reforge your exotics so they are viable in the next hard raid? Well you can! Don't want to reforge your exotics because it's too much effort? You can do that too!

2 通の返信Deej, I really like this game. Very much so. I know a lot of people hate on it, and that's fine it's their opinion. But I can see past it's flaws, and enjoy it so very much. Don't go on with this plan of action. I'll probably still play if you do, because I'll still like this game, but most of your player base will be pissed off and a large portion will quit. There is a reason why people enjoy loot based games so much. We enjoy progressing our character and getting better and cooler gear. Forcing us to regrind this gear shows us that you just want to increase player time on your game. It'll backfire, without a doubt. People won't like having to spend a massive amount of materials to upgrade their gear, and will hate the xp grind. They'll quit, very simply, because they don't appreciate having their progress wiped for the sake of artificially extending the life of your game. Then, you get the opportunity to explain to activision why the number of people playing your game has crashed. Lately, your updates have been great, everyone for the most part has loved them. Do this, and you take two steps back. This is you're game, you are free to do whatever you want with it. But if you don't respond to the largest community backlash in your game's lifespan, I question why you even bother to put "As always, we're listening to your feedback." at all in these posts. Prove to us that you actually listen to us, or else risk losing your player base. Regards, Trolling

I have 20 plus weapons maxed out and it'll take me longer to max everything out again than next dlc will be released and we will have to do it again. This is dumb we worked hard to max everything out. Especially trying to get all the ascendant materials. Plus spending 7k in glimmer for each weapon to reforge them? That's a lot of glimmer for 20 plus weapons. Keep in mind that each character has at least 5 exotics times 3 characters. It is making us do the same thing over and over again instead of actually releasing more content than what's in expansion.

1 返信I just reached level 30 not so long ago, but I don't think it is that bad. You only have to reset them if you want them to not get left behind by the raised level cap. You could either re-level your gear, or just get new gear from the expansion. Plus, there will be new weapons and gear with higher stats, so you may not eve have to wear the same gear to be level 30, unless you want to. Sucks that I almost finished leveling my bed Mythoclast, but it's not that bad of a loss, honestly. More to do, right?

Seriously. Who's idea was it to make us re-level. It took long enough as it is and now we have basically say goodbye to our handwork and poof it's nothing? This is exactly why people quit. Reading this update literally makes me contemplate quitting and no update should.

1 返信Copy and past answer I've used repeatedly today... I'm not sure how people are equating 300 with useless. The stuff I've read in the preview and game informer says that Xur will have a selection of exotics to upgrade, so if Thorn isn't available to upgrade for 6 weeks then having it at max for those 6 weeks is useful. Yes it would suck if you spent this week LVing up ice breaker to 300 then having Xur available to upgrade it on the 12th.

2 通の返信no your rightfully ok to be mad at this. 90% of us are. the ones who are not are the people who never leveled their exotics. they loose nothing.

4 通の返信So you can either get new exotics to level from scratch or you can get upgraded exotics to level from scratch either way you have to level an exotic from scratch. This option is for people who don't particularly like the new exotics. I can tell you id love to have an upgraded symbiote aclophage. The 4th GG shot is awesome. If you don't want to level that exotic again don't, wear the old version and don't complain but you won't be able to get to 32. You're not being robbed of the work you put in to your exotic to get to 30. You're being asked to do some -blam!-ing work to get to 32.

4 通の返信no one is MAKING you do anything. your choice, its an option not a requirement. qq more

2 通の返信I think the problem is that the game engine doesn't support changes to the weapon upgrade grid where the weapons experience is retained. You are literally getting a new item with the same name and an additional grid slot when you reset the exotics.

I am a very skeptical of Destiny. Personal opinions that I have that don't need to get brought up here but, upgrading exotics is not a huge issue. Nor is it an issue that needs to be flung around like its a huge slight against the player. My reasoning behind this is because you are going to replace these current exotics with new exotics. Ultimately you don't have to upgrade to the new version. You can just use it until you find a new version, or a brand new exotic. If you have a favorite exotic by all means upgrade it. You're going to be upgrading other new, probably better items that drop in the new stuff. Apparently in one of the new quests they give you an exotic fusion rifle, at least that's what I read in the game informer write up. Think about it, let it sit and cooler heads will prevail. What we should be concerned about is are these "exotic quests" the story missions they spoke about, or is it story driven content to tie the missions into the strike and raid. I'm confused about it, and my purchase will definitely hinge on that.
