threatened by iron banner gear?
Question.
Why are some of you 30s threatened by iron banner gear? Why is cheesing the VOG better than actually winning in PvP? Is it because people can actually get to 30 AND have to be good at PvP (because many thirties are terrible at it)? Or is it something else.
Ultimately, there isn't any reason to hate on 30s with IB gear. It looks better than the raid gear. that's for sure.
EDIT: So many of you have answered me with a wealth of knowledge. Most of you have given a fair and solid answer. Some people who are only a high level due to IB gear say they are experienced in the raid, but in fact, they are terrible and uneducated on how to complete the raid.
There are two things. lvl 30 raiders who feel as though they are superior because they run the raid three times a week and then wait merely because they have to wait longer than people did for IB gear. Then, there are the IB 30's and 29's that lie about their raid experience and drag their team down.
Seriously? Why lie about your raid experience? Are your egos so deflated you need to boast about how you're "A pro at the raid"? If you say "I've never Done the raid" your group will direct you what to do.
Also, The 30's who think they are better than the rest or every "fake" 30 they see you are just as bad. Self esteem needs a boosts by believing you are better. Terrible. Also, no you aren't that good. Last night, a couple buddies of mine played skirmish with a team of all 30's with 100% raid gear and weapons. We DESTROYED them. 10000 to 2400. Raiding does not make you superior in any way.
If someone is lying about raid experience that's on them. If someone cheeses the raid, that's on them. Not on all of us.

1 返信All I needed were boots because I originally got raid boots on my first run but no one said anything about not deleting them and my uneducated noob self at the time did so now I fought for my boots and I'm level 30

RNG was recently responsible for bridging the final gap to the level cap in this game. That RNG was implemented as a wall, it keeps an audience replaying the game's content. Iron Banner's offering of Gauntlets and Boots that are 30 Light Grade didn't entirely answer this RNG gap, as the chest piece and hard mode raid helmet are still limiting factors. One can raid over and over and over again and still not find portions of 30 Light Grade gear for their specific spots, this is incredibly evident in looking at level 30s that continually do the raid, such as myself, regardless of the number of tries I put in, on characters, I'm still missing 30 Light Grade gear that I end up needing to fill with exotic pieces. One method of earning gear is simply more guaranteed than the other. You can continually play the raid lottery 3 times a week (if you've got three characters) and more if you chose to burn characters and start them over to transfer gear to them. Even in doing this RNG finds every way it can to prevent those pieces from coming to you. I personally have made 7 characters total, thats about my limit, at this point I do the raid when I feel like it (or at least until my third character is ready to start raiding, then you might see me re-rolling lock after lock.) Basically Iron Banner lets you waste your time in broken PvP until you can gain two slots of 30 Light Grade gear, while the Raid gear option gives you the chance to waste your time unless RNG feels generous... Pick your poison; the game stops you from feeling done by building walls, rather than having more thorough content. We know this and have always known it. The idea that anyone is fighting about it ior threatened by it s hilarious and sad.

3 通の返信I think there's ways to cheese everything in this game, so this whole argument about IB vs Raid gear is just ridiculous. Some people are good at PvP, and worked hard for their IB gear. Some people camped and hoped for a win to get their IB gear without trying. Some people worked really hard and did everything in the raid legitimately like 50 times to finally get all of their raid gear. Some people got carried through the raid twice and got lucky with drops and got all of their raid gear. The point is, you don't know how anyone got to 30 - by working hard or cheesing everything they can, so just let it go. Judge a player by their skill when you actually play with them instead of going "Oh he has IB gear, he's a scrub and a fake thirty" or "Oh raid helmet? I bet you just pushed Atheon a bunch of times before the patch huh?". Let's all just chill and have fun. The more 30s we have, "real" or "fake", the easier it's gonna be to whoop on Crota in a week!

We all know how iron banner players got their gear. They killed fellow guardians to get it. They soaked in the blood of lesser players, harvested Raiders' tears and feasted on the entrails of crybaby "earners". They are a blight and deserve the scorn for proving themselves to be the monsters that they are.

5 通の返信It's the IB 30's that come walking in the raid with the mindset that since they're 30's they don't have to listen to the raid lead (if you have one) I watched 3 IB 30's and one IB 29, fail to hold open one portal. (Don't even get me started on what happened when we tried to do both at once.) Every single one refused to listen, wouldn't work together and had a hard time with basic raid dynamics. I know with RNGesus it was feasible to be a raid 30 in minimal runs, but for the most part, when you saw a level 30 they weren't complete -blam!-tards in the raid. I have both IB gear and Raid gear, I use it as necessary. I suck at pvp (no, really, I suck), but when it comes to raids, I've done a few and tend to know what I'm talking about. So when the IB 30 tells me he doesn't want to touch the relic, tries to melee supplicants and won't listen, I reserve the right to get angry.

IB loot can't be defined as easier or harder than raid loot, bc raid loot is random. You can't say, in general, people work harder for raid gear bc some people get better drops than others. I saw someone get two different pieces of gear in one normal raid. So he only needed one more raid piece and an exotic (which anyone can buy from Zur or get in a Nightfall) to be 30. I ran the raid 9 times with my Titan on hard and normal and ended up with raid arms and 4 raid chests! I had 5 exotics for that character, but just needed boots. I used IB to get the boots. You can only raid once a week on each difficulty, and if you don't get the drops you need, it doesn't reflect on your skill. Fun fact, the very next raid I did after I bought IB boots, I got raid boots. :( Also, none of this is accounting for lower skilled players that get carried through the raid and get lucky drops. I find a lot of 30s that can't hold their own in the raid if there are some less experienced players in the fireteam. It just shows they only finish when they have good support. We brought a 27 into hard raid just messing around one night and he was still standing when every 29 and 30 was dead. Levels based on gear acquisition do not, and cannot reflect player ability.

1 返信It doesn't take skill to get IB gear. I'm not the best in pvp. Kd slighty over 1.5....i have both pieces of gear. All you gotta do is camp! Its a handout. Idk why everyone thinks it takes skill. I went 19-0 just to prove a point to some kid on here saying the same thing. I constantly get told i suck at pvp..which i do! So no...your point is invalid.

I've got each set on 2 of my characters and the IB gear has better stats and perks. The orb drops from melees and crit hits is negligible, gaining more super from taking down praetorians or oracles also negligible and the heavy ammo on legs is only good if you don't have field scout or ghorn.

Stop the foolishness. I dunno how many people I can speak for, but I for one have never "cheesed" Atheon. I obtained all 4 pieces of raid gear the old fashioned way.

1 返信The fact you people call it earning gear in this game cracks me up.. its all rng and the only part of earning I see is the IB rep farming. The raids are so simple as it stands now and I cant see how thats called earning lvl 30

1 返信Level 30 is level 30. But I ran into a few 29s wearing IB gear that claimed to have experience in the raid and wanted to run through on hard. I didn't check any of their weapons sets or anything, because I don't really like checking people's shit unless it's admire something I don't have/haven't seen. So we tried it, they were terrible at the sync plates and I thought maybe they just aren't good players, but no we get to the confluxes and they have no clue what's going on. Turns out, none of them had ever run the raid before. WTF. Now I don't take IB 29s in unless they show me raid gear of some kind. Nothing wrong with running IB gear, but don't pretend to have experience to run the raid on hard. Run it on normal like everyone else so you know what the -blam!- you're doing.

14 通の返信Lol rank 5 in iron banner and I'm not very good at pvp. It requires very little skill. Iron banner gear was significantly easier to get than the raid gear. I'm not threatened by it, but you're points are very flawed

3 通の返信I just think it was a little too easy to attain. Maybe only sell one piece per event. I bought both pieces for each of my characters for the upgrades on them, i just felt it was too easy to get. I started a Titan from scratch the day IB came out and got him to 30 in 3 days. -_- I did get lucky with gettin the helmet from the raid.

Ultimately, the game gives you opportunity to get to level 30 a number of ways. As it should! That's the goal isn't it? High level characters and activities. We are all playing for the love of it, who cares how we got to a certain level? Smacks as some sort of elitism, I earned this, you got lucky, blah blah blah. I like PvP, but I'm not that good at it. I prefer PvE, as I did with Halo and do with most games. That's my preference, others prefer PvP. It doesn't matter really does it?

1 返信I have been a 29 for a very long time using normal legendary gear and one exotic. When IB started for the second time i put everything into it so i could get the gloves and boots. Reached level 5 and even got all the weapons except for the machine gun. I wasn't even that bad with an avarage of 1.5 to 1.8 k/d. So now the only thing missing was a helmet or chest. So i went into the hard raid and gotten a helmet on the first try together with the vex. It took so little effort compared to the IB that i was just laughing like did this really hapen? It was just pure luck with little skill. So now i am a level 30 and i have to say i would gladly do every IB to get the highest light level instead of raids. The IB only takes skill to get you your rewards and that is the reason i know so many people who backed out when they couldn't handle it. So there is what i think is the real meaning of "earning". I would gladly see a system where pve and pvp allows you to reach the same end game gear but with different looks and stats.
