Machine guns don't make sense in Destiny.
The point is, in other games as in reality, they fire WAY more shots WAY faster than other guns, which equate to power. . .
However in Destiny they fire super-powered shots that people are slow-firing for 1-hit kills.
So basically they're easy-use Sniper Rifles with huge clips. They're not Machine guns.

Weapons in games are a little odd/weak to maintain balance. In real life, machine guns, "pulse" rifles and auto rifles are some of the deadliest weapons invented by man. If you want to play a game where a near miss by a high caliber sniper rifle can kill you, one hit from a 700rpm machine gun will maim or kill you or a single round from a noob spraying Suros from 500 meters away can kill you. Then you're ready for reality. I used to tweak the physics model editor in Marathon so it was more realistic. My multilayer group told me to get bent after one match. So, yeah, we play games to escape reality. From my personal experience, be glad if you never have to experience real war or be on the receiving end of a weapon fired in anger. Sorry if that sounded a little salty.

Have you been to the Crucible? SUROS or any autorifle can kill just as fast if not faster than a Machine Gun. Also if you pay attention precision shots annihilate PvE enemies with any weapon. My scout kills anything without a shield or yellow tag with one simple pull of the trigger. It carries 27 in the mag and around 300 in reserve. It also has more accuracy than a Machine Gun. When I read the name of this post I thought it would be along the lines of "Machine Guns are useless unless their elemental matches an enemies shield. Forget about using them on a boss, you're better off throwing rocks at it." But you went the other way with it.

Half the machine guns do fire as they would now, like corrective measure has an appropriate fire rate for a heavy machine gun. But with that in mind, if in the future magic tech allowed for the development of accurate very high caliber( higher then .50 cal) heavy machine guns that fired slower I'm sure it would be created. So it does make sense as a futuristic weapon.

5 通の返信Machine guns as big as the ones in destiny would carry 50 cal. Bullets which would literally rip a human in half with one shot. Soooo I think they are technically underpowered in relation to real life.
