5th Species
So while everyone is out speculating over where the 6th and 7th chests are of the raid I'm sitting here still speculating over the 5th species teasered at GDC a few years ago. I was really looking forward to possibly hearing about this species more, but I wonder if we will ever see from this 5th species dubbed to be "The Dark Army". Where are the badass Onyx pyramids over Mars?
“Imagine you’re exploring an abandoned moon-base, and you start to notice fissures in the ground, that are flickering with strange lights and seeping gases. And then imagine following one of these fissures and coming upon a giant alien ‘hell-mouth’ cracking the lunar surface. And then imagine taking a treacherous path that leads you even deeper, into the heart of a hidden fortress, where a dark army dreams of conquest and corruption….But I’m..not allowed to talk about that yet.”
Can you talk about it now? Or do we have to wait until Destiny 2 to see what ever this mysterious force of Darkness is. Reminding myself of species 5 disappoints me since it reminds me of what Destiny could have really been, but it still has the chance to be that game in the future. It appears that "The Dark Army" lingers in a black smoke, sort of like the vex whenever you walk into an area they spawn into.
Thoughts?

It almost seems as if this dark army controls all of the forces of darkness...

1 返信Well the ships from the linked image look a lot like vex architecture, and we have yet to see a vex "ship". The second pic you linked shows a patrol of fallen & cabal together with weird "dark" lighting. The third picture shows hive architecture (maybe concept art for the raid?). The last image you link certainly seams to show a 5th race, if the pics are actually from bungie. In total, 2 of the pictures probably have nothing to do with a 5th race, 1 of them maybe has to do with a 5th race, and 1 of them seems to confirm a 5th race.

This!!!! I want to be surprised more from destiny. This would feed into that. I think the marketing strategy gave us too much and the game too little. If there was less in the marketing people wouldn't be so disappointed.

4 通の返信Allow me to explain why this would not be the 5th race... 1. Humans 2. Vex 3. Fallen 4. Cabal 5. Hive 6. Exo 7. Awoken (8. And 9. If you consider them would be The Traveler and The Darkness) Still, as you can clearly see, there are atleast 7 races in the game. Notice that the Humans and the Awoken are not the same race. Awoken USED to be human but are no longer.

1 返信Wow, I completely forgot about all that! Thanks, that's pretty amazing and disappointing. I keep seeing and hearing things from before Destiny was released, about how good it was supposed to be, being really hyped up. I played it and forgot all about it, the game we have now is just a fraction of what it should have been.

I was looking forward to fighting the 5th race too, and was disappointed when it made no appearance. I always assumed/it was hinted that this race is the Darkness: maybe b/c of Destiny's obviously butchered story, they couldn't fit in?

So the species we have now are fallen hive vex cabal, all of which are an army of the darkness, and all of which seem to hate each other. Fallen can be found fighting hive and vex and vex can be found fighting cabal, so clearly this isn't one unified group, not even following a set of orders like American military. They might not like each other but they wouldn't kill each other either you know? So how could the darkness truly be a formidable opponent? Its clearly not a blotch of ink. That would be ridiculous. [spoiler] he he get it...?[/spoiler] Do it must have a physical force an army of darkness so to speak. These pyramid ships must be one of the most elite groups we will encounter, probably none with a critical spot. Such is the true awesomeness of the darkness. I too hope to see these fly over my sky so I can wage my own personal war with them, even though this Is the first I've seen of them, but first I hope for less dastardly villains, but still New ones to fight on New planets incorporated. That and maybe if you don't mind me dropping this hope here, races that actually had stats, awoken-recovery exo-armour human-agility even basic buffs like that would be refreshing.

(I remember an old article talking about that picture, called it the "glimmer" race. This makes me laugh now) But unfortunately like osiris and seven seraphs, they were most likely cut... 4 通の返信Here's the thing, a year before destiny came out Marty-o-Donald was fired and sued bungie for around 2 billion dollars and that put a small damper in their budget. THEN the lead story director quit for untold reasons and he took his story rights with him. SO any hopes of a 5th race or even the destiny most of us where expecting was scraped and remade. So pretty much any and all info released before the release was tarnished. ALOT of sketch art was scraped because it fit into the original story and sadly less than a year is not enough to make a TRUE story. ^this is why we where left with a shit story and we where/are pissed at bungie for destiny. My hopes are that destiny 2 will actually fill on what we lost and add even more. I still have hope but it is very little but their. If you want to know the original story I will tell you just ask. (Most people just blow it off and say it was a lie but it was actually from a pre-alpha build beta test)
