Rewrite: I have re-written this "Rant" of sorts and addressed a lot of issues people have mentioned in the comments, such as lack of detail, Overly aggressive tone and general "Rage/Butthurt" like wording.
(This Re-write was put in place at the 250+ comments mark for those who are interested, so many of the comments were in fact valid points before this time)

There's just no words to describe how frustrated I am at some of the people in this community (And on the internet) for being so negative and immature to the man who had brain surgery and received a weapon from bungie for his suffering, I just cant seem to grasp how people can attack this man or make such cruel remarks about the issue. Now This is not about the gun or Bungie white knighting, They are just part of the original story, Completely irrelevant to my topic. I'm perfectly fine with people openly stating there opinion on the matter of who gets the gun and so on, thats all good, its how a lot of people seem to make some sort of sick and immoral remark everytime this comes up, For example;
Who gives a shit about some dude who had brain surgery 7 times, No one cares

F*** him, Just gime my FOAF and let the scrub die, I payed $60 to play a game not hear about some cancerous dude and his troubled life
I have seen posts like this everywhere from Reddit to these forums to youtube comments on videos of people talking about this, And I am truly sickened to see these kind of words come out peoples foul mouths. I just.. I don't know what to say honestly... How can people be so cruel? How do we do it? What is the trick behind being such a..Demon, to everything in this world that has even a hint of something we don't like.
Anyway... All my love and best wishes to him & his family. <3
EDIT: Link to article for people who don't know: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Destiny-Player-Gets-Touching-Gift-From-Bungie-Following-Brain-Surgery-68247.html
EDIT TWO: I'd just like to mention this is not directed at everyone, Only the people who are being mean and foul. I don't mean to generalize everybody. Sorry for the confusion
EDIT THREE: I see the term "Pretentious" popping up here & there. Just wanted to point out that I write like this because I can get my point across without ranting like a child, using caps lock to emphasise myself and waving the F bomb around like a lunatic with no real sense of argument, debate or even paragraphing and spelling.

3 通の返信I don't understand the hate, or implications of lying that a local minority have here. I mean isn't he recovering? Why does it matter what form of rehab he chooses? Video games, and technology overall are becoming more integrated with society in all facets, so playing a video game from 2014 will obviously have different effects on you than playing a 90's game (there's nothing wrong with those games, just a difference in technology that strengthens a game's influence on an individual). This is evidence by the poor production put into Destiny, yet we all still play it, it's addicting, and it's a stress reliever. How would you rather him spend time with his family btw? Did you skip over the parts in the story where he's playing this game with his family? Here's a proposition, instead of being a world-class internet warrior how about you grow a pair and go express your feelings directly to this child's face, and to the faces of his family. They'll be waiting for you in the hospital enjoying a mutual interest that they have all bonded over in this family crisis of theirs. SMH at the utter lack of shame in these people.

jmferrisにより編集済み: 11/7/2014 12:33:34 PMIt is all about perspective, and when it comes to this forum, that perspective is generally warped. True to their conspiracy nature, a lot of people look at this as some sort of publicity stunt by Bungie to bolster public relations, which it is not. It is simply a random act of kindness - nothing more, nothing less. To those on here that do suffer from a mental or other physical ailment, I truly do wish you the best. But no one was trying to slight you - instead the intent of some people has been, as always, to just stir the pot. I have a family member who suffers from cognitive issues, so I do understand the hardships that some of you deal with on a daily basis. What people are constantly overlooking is the narrative. A fan of the game has an awesome wife, who went to Reddit to share their story and find help for her husband to do the raid. The community rallied behind them, and it was noticed by Bungie. The reason that you will likely not see that here is, despite having just as much in the conspiracy department, the one thing that Reddit has in spades that is severely lacking here, is a sense of community. She did not ask for anything, and DeeJ did not publicly tell everyone that Bungie was giving him something. It was, in fact, the gentleman's wife, who shared the act of kindness with the community. DeeJ only had two comments on the thread. The first (and more important comment) was this:
Our team is passing this message around. Please tell your husband that we wish him strength and good health. We make games to be fun (hopefully meaningful). When they become more than that, it's inspiring. Thank you.
The second was how it would not be any treat for the husband to play with DeeJ - a humorous comment. Was the entire thread unicorns and rainbows? No, it was not. There are still unsavory elements over there, as well - but there is everywhere you go. Unfortunately, this community has won something, as well, in all of this - the "Most Pricks Per Capita" award. The original thread on Reddit is here: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2lbtb2/a_doctors_recommendation_for_destiny_and_its/ After she told their story, you can clearly see that she was not trying to ask for anything, other than people who would raid with him who understood his situation. Of course, leave it to the select few to turn it into a story about how Bungie needs to do something for others, too. No, they don't. They did not even need to do what they did. I'll leave it with this... Good job, Bungie and DeeJ! Edit: Grammar.

Yeah we are pretty pathetic as a community...I mean there was some idiotic proudly proclaiming he would report any one who push him while he AFKs his way through Strikes. I don't get the stupidity or negativity at all. Fun game..still enjoying splitting my time between this and AW...even if the Raid lords and rngesus semester to love to reward me ascendant materials instead of armor and weapons.

1 返信This is really good, I'm glad they did something for him. Shows bungie does have a heart, even if it's beneath a pile of money.

I can't either, I know there are self centered idiots out there but this is ridiculous. To the people involved I hope you have a speedy recovery and I really hope you destroy these self centered children in the crucible with your new shiny gun. Well done bungie a very nice thing you did and I approve 100%.

People are jealous assholes. I get that everyones been through a lot, hell, i spent a year in a hospital with a tumor that messed my heart up in 2012. I dont try to say what i went through was worse because everyone is different. Who cares if the guy got a gun? He went through a lot and had destiny to aid in his recovery, he deserves it.

I agree with OP. A nice little touch from the devs to someone who has had months of suffering. To the people hating, stop and think for a moment. If this brings even an ounce of happiness to someone who has been through such a hard time, it's all worth it. On another note; that range! Basically a sniper rifle!

5 通の返信While I totally agree with you on this, I can't help but think that if I were in a similar situation (potentially terminal illness, etc) playing video games would be the last thing I would be doing, I'd be spending time with my family and loved ones. All these stories do beg the question about people's priorities in life, both for the haters and the "victims".

Anyone that has a problem with this is a disgrace. I have seen a few complaints about it, about a man going through serious surgery and a company offering him something virtual which may make him smile at least once in a difficult time, its a nice gesture. How people have managed to twist this and turn it into complaints and jealousy is beyond me
-
That is a beautiful thing they have done, I have been increasingly irritated by bungie for all the bad that has fallen on me in this game.... But that has raised the respect bar a little for them from me, glad to hear the man is getting better, well done bungie

41 通の返信I have no negativity for the man who is ill. My issue here is Bungie lied to us and you praise them? They say they can not restore items to accounts that have lost them due to glitches but here we have an instance where an item was added to an account?!?!?! I am sorry I refuse to praise them for lying to people when we now have evidence that proves them wrong. My friend lost their whole vault after spending 150 hours since launch and was told "We can not prove weather of not you dismattled your gear or it was lost." and you want me to praise the company for giving a man a gun??? Get out of your little bubble and see the bigger picture.

2 通の返信I just hope Bungie doesn't give in to these whiny bitches on the forums and takes the scout rifle away from the guy later. I'm very happy for him and wish him a speedy recovery, unlike these degenerates who only care about the gun. People are losing there humanity.

Couldn't agree more, but bungie should have seen this coming lmao it's a t game. Shoulda just hooked him up a few exotics and a full set of raid gear. Not something that's currently unattainable. Kids are naturally going to be jealous and hate on it. Look at the rediculous nerf this nerf that posts that happen on a daily basis.
