Rewrite: I have re-written this "Rant" of sorts and addressed a lot of issues people have mentioned in the comments, such as lack of detail, Overly aggressive tone and general "Rage/Butthurt" like wording.
(This Re-write was put in place at the 250+ comments mark for those who are interested, so many of the comments were in fact valid points before this time)

There's just no words to describe how frustrated I am at some of the people in this community (And on the internet) for being so negative and immature to the man who had brain surgery and received a weapon from bungie for his suffering, I just cant seem to grasp how people can attack this man or make such cruel remarks about the issue. Now This is not about the gun or Bungie white knighting, They are just part of the original story, Completely irrelevant to my topic. I'm perfectly fine with people openly stating there opinion on the matter of who gets the gun and so on, thats all good, its how a lot of people seem to make some sort of sick and immoral remark everytime this comes up, For example;
Who gives a shit about some dude who had brain surgery 7 times, No one cares

F*** him, Just gime my FOAF and let the scrub die, I payed $60 to play a game not hear about some cancerous dude and his troubled life
I have seen posts like this everywhere from Reddit to these forums to youtube comments on videos of people talking about this, And I am truly sickened to see these kind of words come out peoples foul mouths. I just.. I don't know what to say honestly... How can people be so cruel? How do we do it? What is the trick behind being such a..Demon, to everything in this world that has even a hint of something we don't like.
Anyway... All my love and best wishes to him & his family. <3
EDIT: Link to article for people who don't know: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Destiny-Player-Gets-Touching-Gift-From-Bungie-Following-Brain-Surgery-68247.html
EDIT TWO: I'd just like to mention this is not directed at everyone, Only the people who are being mean and foul. I don't mean to generalize everybody. Sorry for the confusion
EDIT THREE: I see the term "Pretentious" popping up here & there. Just wanted to point out that I write like this because I can get my point across without ranting like a child, using caps lock to emphasise myself and waving the F bomb around like a lunatic with no real sense of argument, debate or even paragraphing and spelling.

99% of people that talk shit on forums wouldn't dare utter the same shit in real life. I also think its disgusting how people think they can treat other human beings just because of a weapon. At least Bungie actually reads and cares about their community.

7 通の返信You probably won't read this. While I agree that the Internet spawns some horrific attitudes, you have to be a Damn fool to get offended by it. It is so easy to ignore it, knowing that these people who say those things would never say that in real life. The fact that I have to say this saddens me. It seems that some people will always take things said over the Internet too personally.
-
6 通の返信Unfortunately, he's not the only one who's suffering in the world. Shedding a tear for every single sob story will dry you out very quickly; people eventually become emotionally numb to these kinda things. There's too much pain in the world to waste all your bandages on one man. At the end of the day, people die every day. By giving all your attention to one person who is still alive, you're as much a part of the problem as those who show their disdain for him. Food for thought. All the people defending him are probably far less morally righteous in reality. The internet can skew our perception of one another quite easily, so quite frankly I'm taking everything said with a grain of salt... but who am I to say anything? I'm just another patron in the internet cafe, so to speak.

I have a million problems but i don't get a free gun... That's the problem with the entire thing, every person in the world is struggling in their own ways. All people need is compassion. My heart goes out to anyone who is suffering, trying to find their way in this life. We're all trying to reach the light, be it the light within ourselves that shines when we're happy and confident in our own skins.

Honestly I don't fully understand why so many people think this was a PR act. They were in contact with his wife and him. She was the one who made it public knowledge. This was just a random act of kindness for a fan who was having a rough time, brought into public view by those who received it so there is no need to go on and bash bungle for it. They didn't come out and go...oh look what we did...also about the topic of raising money for his treatment, the internet and budgie communities are so vast that this would be easily plausible but for people who are suffering sometimes all you need is something little to brighten your day and make you feel special. What happened affects no one on here so there is no reason we should be complaining about it. It's just nice to know through all the bullshit in this world there are a very few who understand and care.

DrChangstaにより編集済み: 11/8/2014 7:53:05 PMThis is quite true. The behaviour by most of these die-hard fans is unacceptable, but at the same time I don't think that was the most diplomatic decision Bungie has made right there. Let me put it to you this way; they gave this bloke access to game item that has not been released to the public yet, simply because he just had a brain surgery. One guy gets it as special requisition, while everyone else must work hard for it in future. Now I'm not saying this is bad thing to do, it's a heart-warming and a very charitable service Bungie has done. But with an act like this it's obvious that the common majority of the Destiny community - who have spent long hours of each day and committed themselves to grinding for the rewards they seek to earn - is bound to react negatively. And in the most disgusting manner if they have to. Because to them, this simple act of kindness to one man is a heartless betrayal to the majority. But of course I take no sides to this matter. I just believe that all matter perspectives are welcome in this very amusing site.

This whole thing reminds me of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge thing a few months ago. I know most people thought of it as the "Ice Bucket Challenge" but it was for a cause not for a bunch of people to post videos all over facebook of them dumping room temperature water on their heads. No one understood that the point of dumping frozen water on your head was that of a punishment for not donating to a cause. People saw it as a glorified way to seem like they were an activist when it was really all about drawing attention to themselves. You want to do good for people? Don't berate people who have chosen to vent about something; go donate time to green peace or funds to cancer research. A few hundred vertices and a TIFF on your TV screen isn't changing -blam!-.

17 通の返信goldenfetusにより編集済み: 11/8/2014 7:29:46 PMCaring about one particular individual who has cancer does not make you morally superior to people who do not care - instead, it's a demonstration of your intellectual inferiority. The world is full of suffering. Everyone suffers through sickness, old age, and eventually death. You have decided to care about this one individual out of billions who are suffering solely because he is suffering in the limelight and you want positive attention for jumping on the bandwagon. You want to make a show out of how much you care about him, and how that makes you better than everyone who doesn't. If you're such a great person, go help some people who are suffering outside of the public view, and don't tell anyone about it. So just shut up already. Gaming is an escape from suffering for many of us. We don't need to feel guilty about wanting to enjoy our escape instead of lathering attention onto some unfortunate individual and the army of white knight idiots holding him captive for their masturbatory pleasure. You have no way of knowing what any of us contribute to anything when we're not here listening to your narcissistic rants.

RyzingThunderにより編集済み: 11/8/2014 7:39:57 PMFor everyone who is saying they're is suffering all around the world, you're right. There is suffering almost everywhere you go, whether its visible or not. Now it's you're decision if you wanna try to help someone out, make them feel better. That's what bungie did, and having 7 brain surgeries and loosing memory is very hard to get through, and they made that guy and his wife very happy. You don't know if they did that to look good or to make them feel better, but the guy with brain surgery definitely was happy. Also, you paid $60 for this game but you dont get one gun? go cry me a river, if $60 is that much if a deal to you where you need to make a complaint about one gun, maybe you should handle youre damn money better. Now, if you wanna bitch and moan on the forums about how stupid it was and how it's "unfair", go right ahead, make yourself look like a jackass and an idiot. Or you can just be nice and mature, and maybe make someone else's day by helping them out. Also, bungie hasn't even mentioned this at all, they're just helping out, so grow up.

2 通の返信The people who are complaining make me embarrassed to be a human being. I say to keep things fair, Bungie puts up the money for anyone who wants to have the same surgeries this man has had and then they can have the gun too. And that will be the only way to get it. See how important getting that gun is then. It is disgusting how people show compassion for other people, karma will catch up. What if it was one of your loved ones, would you still be complaining? These children who are making these comments, who put virtual materiel possessions, not even something they can touch, before compassion, understanding & love deserve to...have something painful happen to them or their loved ones so they can understand how it feels and then have people on the internet ridicule them instead of compassion and love. It's disgusting and if there is Karma I hope it shows up. PS karma, I have a list of people you have missed...don't miss these people though

You should look up the definition of a psychopath. You will probably find that the average "asshole" on here is actually a psychopath. It's Just not in their nature to care about anyone other than themselves. I don't think it's a choice. It's genetic.

13 通の返信Walter Melonにより編集済み: 11/8/2014 8:05:24 AMI sick of you guys making post trying to look like a white knight. I could care less. I won't be playing this game long enough to care. I just think Bungie did as lazy a job with this PR act as they did when making Destiny. How hard would it have been to raise some money for this guy? I mean a f ucking digital gun? Thats it? A f ucking gun. Wow you went all out for the guy. Hey you congrats on surgery that could have killed you, btw log in and download this gun. We care. Nice PR act Bungie. You needed this at the moment when your game is being viewed a bit negatively. For christ sake also. Can we please recognize the wife. You know the one who made the post about her husband and actually was the one that got him the gun. No you don't see anybody praising her. They just say good job Bungie even though you made how much off the game and can't spare him some change. I mean how hard would it be to slap your Bungie logo on a post asking gamers for $1 to $5 donations. That shit would add up and gamers would eat that shit up. Touche Bungie's PR. You look good in the public eye and it cost you nothing.

1 返信SLOW CLAP AND APPLAUSE TO THIS GUY! I was also shocked to see how high the levels of asshole people can reach these days, really happy to see there are a few people not only with common sense but a heart big up to you my good sir!

6 通の返信It's a shame people are getting so worked up over this. Did you notice how Bungie has made no mention to this whatsoever? There's two things you can draw from that actually. Either the original poster on reddit made a huge elaborate lie (which is very unlikely), or Bungie, once again, quietly gave back to a person in the community. Destiny has already been used on more than one occasion for charity, and Bungie has fully supported these events. And yet, we're going to look at Bungie as this evil corporation? Why? Because somebody got a new toy and you didn't? I shutter to think that the same people posting on these forums actually walk around in the real world and work real jobs (well, that's alot of assumption being made on the job issue, but I digress). It's funny how these same people would most likely be embarrassed to be confronted about this stuff face-to-face. And what about all of these other people saying, "where's my gun?"....just...really? It's not like Bungie made this a huge public deal and said "This is the only man in our community that is experiencing hardship, so we're going to single him out and give him a new gun". This was a small, quiet, gesture simply out of the sake of kindness to a member of the community. If the reddit poster hadn't said anything, you and I wouldn't even know about it! Are we really going to go so low as to complain and call the few folks at Bungie that did this out for it? For goodness sake people, this is pathetic. And to all of the people complaining that this is more content shipped on the disc that we can't access (keeping in mind that I do feel that's a problem with Destiny) have you seen the images that were leaked? It's a re-skinned strangers rifle...thats about it...This gun is more than likely not even out of the idea stage, no where near ready for our use. Guys, this is sad. One small quiet act of kindness and we want to come to blows with Bungie for it? I'll be the first to admit my life has been blessed and fairly comfortable, and I don't know and CANNOT understand the kind of struggles I'm sure many of the people in our community face. I'll also admit that there's alot to be upset about with Destiny in it's current state. This is not an issue that impacts even a fraction of the community though; I won't argue against those that suffer similar illnesses, but for most of us, this is not something we even have the right to complain about. If anyone can look at an act of charity like this and find a way to say any variety of grotesque or selfish things about it....frankly, they're pathetic.

The internet makes me embarrassed to be a human sometime. The anonymity of people on the Internet makes them feel like they can say whatever. There is no repercussions for their vile remarks. I wish their ip addresses could be leaked to the world so they could be harassed like they do online. Comments like you mentioned, or the stuff coming out of gamer gate is just crazy. That people can have that little empathy for their fellow man. I'm not a SJW, I could care less about most issues, but being a normal human I can be empathetic to certain issues. I for one think it's awesome what bungie did.
-
I've been reading some of the comments. It's sad how pathetic many of the people are. But I wouldn't expect anything else from an online community. Even a lot of the comments within this thread are sad. So many miserable and socially awkward recluses on this site.
-
2 通の返信Because people are assholes online, none of these people who says those kind of things here would dare to say them in real life. Why? Talk all big On the internet but actual cowards in real life.

Tango Unleashedにより編集済み: 11/8/2014 1:55:31 PMThis is the kind of people that is on the forums. They have the sense of having their identity secret, so they attack people, being an complete prick or heartless bastards because they can and can't be punished for it. I hope the man who had brain surgery 7 times recovers alright, no body should have to deal with that kind of pain. What would make this even more special gift if they lock Fate of all Fools so no one else can get it, only he gets an one of a kind weapon. Even though I love collecting every weapon and armor piece in the game, I would be okay with this because it be a way to immortalize him, giving him something that nobody else in the world can get.
