Main points of the article:
- Drops Dec 9th
- There will be new weapons and armor, including legendaries and exotics, and five additional Bounty slots.
- The Dark Below will also introduce three new competitive multiplayer maps: Pantheon, Skyshock, and The Cauldron.
- Those on PlayStation platforms will gain access to an additional cooperative Strike dubbed The Undying Mind and more as an exclusive until Fall 2015.
- In The Dark Below, a new character Eris will arrive at the Tower to deliver an ominous warning: that The Hive plans to summon a powerful god, Crota, to destroy Earth
- The Dark Below will raise the maximum Light Level to 32
- One new Raid: Crota's End
So a few thoughts.
1. Three new story missions? Thats it?
2. There is ONE new strike and it is an exclusive until 2015 for PS4? Edit: it has been clarified that there are likely two strikes one is exclusive. Still one new strike for xbox is not enough.
Well I said I needed to see what the DLC was going to offer. Apparently the "additional bounty capacity" DeeJ mentioned yesterday is pay for content as well.
I'll keep playing with my kids, but otherwise I am done. It's not likely they will need this DLC before they are bored with Destiny as well. I don't think you withheld content anymore Bungie. I just think your game was no where near ready and you pushed out a shell to meet a contract obligation with Activision. It's been an utterly underwhelming ride of broken promises and terrible community relations.

8 通の返信I have bought a digital copy with the pass. So I am forcing myself to play until the last dlc. This will be my last Bungie experience. First Rockstar can't keep their word. Now Bungie sells what has to be their worst game. Not liking where the gaming industry is going. I think all game devs are gonna go to this format to sell their product.

14 通の返信Silvabladeにより編集済み: 10/29/2014 10:23:23 PMThere is a lot of controversy on this. I was hoping to shed some light and share my point of view. It doesn't matter that a movie is about the same cost as the expansion because it is comparing apples and oranges. That is like saying no one should ever complain about the price of a movie compared to getting a lapdance because that is 20$ for three minutes. It's nonsensical. $50 for an MMO expansion is the real comparison because it is the closest comparison in the industry. For most games that covers months and months of content, new worlds and regions to explore, new levels and talents, new items, new PvP etc etc. So the reason people are complaining and feeling slighted is because it is well below the market norm. They have good reason to complain, and should continue to do so. It's important that the market speak its mind. This game has a fun base, but most people were starved for content within a week or two. It was released bare bones with DLC only two months out. Even then, no new planets, only 3 missions, limited PvP modes, etc, etc. In addition to that, players on XBox pay the exact same amount for less content? That is ridiculous. I am on the playstation, but you must see how wrong that is? It shows that all they care about is a pricepoint timeline. Not value provided. That shows a lack of care for the gamers themselves. Not all of bungie naturally, but those making these financial decision. The first DLC should have been free to make the game feel more complete. Then people would have felt better. Don't get me wrong. People do need to provide constructive feedback, speak with their wallets, and critically think about the amount of enjoyment they get for the money, but the analogy that most people use about the cost of a movie is a bad comparison. If that is a fair comparison then you can just as easily say that the cost of a movie is far too expensive. It should cost $.40 total since you can get 100 hours out of a video game that costs $20 setting the price at $.20 an hour for entertainment. This is more about feeling like you got your monies worth, and although this is exceptionally designed and a strong base, it locks in execution, delivery, and content. I personally don't feel like I got my monies worth. At the same time, and to play devil's advocate, try to remember this. World of Warcraft was $60 for vanilla and $15 a month. Even at a discounted rate of $10 a month, which never happened, that would mean it cost you $180 a year to play. If Destiny is competing in the same genre then in order to charge that amount ($60 for the game and then $20 every two months for a total of $180) then I am going to want to see new worlds, maps, PvP modes, subclasses, weapons and armor, MANY more missions, and the world around me evolve and grow as the story develops, etc etc because that is what other developers are providing for the same price. /endrant

3 通の返信I will never pre-buy another Activision/Bungie product ever again. I feel so ripped off and betrayed.

7 通の返信For everyone complaining, I hope you have never bought any DLC ever. Because that just makes you a hypocrite

5 通の返信not buying this until it is fully reviewed. If its the best DLC ever, with as much content as in the the game, then great. If its (and looks like it is) geared around PVP, and has virtually non existant PVE content, thats yet again light on story then i'm done. With the latest patch there is so much more they could have fixed, but chose to screw everyone over yet again and nit fix things but through in randomness.

ReigningFireにより編集済み: 10/29/2014 11:32:40 PMWhat the hell it doesn't open up a new planet?! Wow so we get 3 rehashed missions on the planets we have, same areas, different boss/pathway to a destination we've gone before. And 1 strike not even two for a dlc? Come on now, and where is the new game modes/events that should be getting added like sparrow racing or something else that is completely new and not in the game. Maybe make the game a 3-5 year plan so we actually get content not watered down shit so you can spread it out because this game ain't gonna last 3 years like this far less 10.

Once a company is listed on the NYSE, things change a bit. The company owes a fiduciary duty to the shareholders. Such duties include a standard of care in business judgments. Such business judgments include how to further monetize current projects/developments and maximize revenue. Such monetizing and maximizing revenue take precedence over the wants of the baseline consumer. Despite the clear discontent given by the feedback of the customers of this forum, clearly the game statistics show otherwise. These forum members must represent a small minority of the player base of Destiny. The complaints must be a microcosm and not the bigger picture. The era of digital content has exacerbated the DLC phenomena of nickle and diming customers. Just like leasing, purchasing, or financing a vehicle, it's all the same thing except in different packages. Here, despite clearly resembling a subscription model, they want to market it as expansions. Even if subscription-type models are the future, there probably is a win-win situation somewhere. F2P models remove the "$60" entry fee of the game. Gamers are given an opportunity to care about the world and character before deciding whether or not to invest. An example is Warframe. I've spent probably $200 on the game in the past 8 months although I didn't spend a penny in the first 3 months.

13 通の返信Karm~yにより編集済み: 10/29/2014 10:27:38 PMYou guys are the most whiniest fans ever. Bungie can't please you no matter how many updates they put out to fix the game. They are trying to please you with this expansion there are map packs for 15 dollars that only gave you 4 maps and thats it and what bungie is trying to give you will never be enough Give bungie a break they're trying as hard as they can trying to update and work on the Unfinished Dlc that is on the disc. Its A BASE people get your head screwed on straight and at least try to be respectful to bungie, when destiny 2 comes out and you guys who had ditched the game and then came back will try to represent yourselves as loyal fans and I will call bullshit Give bungie a chance on this one (Don't give me shit about promises, they never promised you crap yet you act like they did to push blame.)

Very underwhelming for sure. I was expecting more since the game came with so little content at launch. If this is there 10 year plan then eventually Destiny will probably fade out to other games. I think there is a market for a very content heavy MMO'ish type game like Destiny, but i think Destiny definitely failed to fully deliver on that.

Content is slim for the going rate. I estimated that the DLC would need 5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid to be worth the price tag, but being that I would only be getting 3 missions, 1 strike, and 1 raid it isn't worth it. I don't care about the story, or the new armor or weapons, or new areas, or the light level increase. The original game has plenty of content and stuff to do to hold me over for the next year at which place Dust Palace should be unlocking for Xbox players. I'll wait for a discount day; the only thing I'll miss is the added bounty slots!

Mr Pillowにより編集済み: 10/29/2014 11:01:26 PMRemember in every destiny commercial they say the best place to play is on ps4? There totally right haha. Oh well you wanted the more expensive, and underpowered vcr instead. But that's not my problem

2 通の返信Nobody on xbox one will be playing this game once halo comes out in a few weeks... who cares about destiny DLC being released later for us

6 通の返信Console exclusive content for a multi-console platform game? Charging the same price for DLC over all consoles? Having the same amount of content but having some of it exclusive to a console is one thing, but outright exclusivity to a particular console WHILE charging the same price to ALL consoles is problematic at best.
