I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!
After playing and playing I finally got the rathian plate to drop off the rathian in Monster Hunter Tri for the wii. I have probably killed the thing 1500+ times and after a long haul of running this kill quest many times finally I can upgrade my mutilator greatsword. Oh what a relief.
