Because thanks to Bungie's blanket approach to balancing, they have been. Would anyone be kind enough to explain exactly how shotguns were over-performing in PvE?
Edit: 60 people (out of 508) have thus far voted "Yes", but not one person has been able to tell me what shotguns were doing so well in PvE that the blanket nerf was justified for both PvP and PvE.

None of the weapons had to be nerfed in PvE… The Mythoclast is a shadow of its former self. Sure it's kinda OP but damage reduction by 34% is absolutely ridiculous. Invective and Universal Remote are next to useless right now, Auto Rifles had been to popular, now they're outclassed by Scout Rifles. Next they're gonna nerf the Scout Rifles because people pick the stuff that's most effective. Can't quite remember the name, I think it was Firefall. Just like Destiny it shares PvE and PvP Stats for the Weapons and just like Destiny the Creators nerfed the crap out of the guns to make them somewhat balanced in PvP, thereby making them trash in PvE.

2 通の返信To put things bluntly? Nothing PvE side needed nerfing. Only PvP stuff SHOULD have been rebalanced. Yet, here we are. PvP nerf focus will kill the PvE aspect of the game, since there will always be nerfs or tweaks needed. Why does that have to affect the players who prefer shooting the AI with teammates?

1 返信Shotguns may as well have been a 1 hit kill melee attack before. If bungie nerf them why don't they nerf the warlock ranged melee or the titans charge attack ? They don't understand that the majority of the community hardly get what we need like the crucible rewards fixed and places to sell gear to vendors and maybe a reward system that stops you getting repeat exotics ?

1 返信The VMC didn't need a nerf in PvE either. They are catering to PvP players the players who wont be playing their game when call of duty comes out

1 返信Oh it was super easy to pound all 3 to 5 rounds into a minotaur at point blank to 30 ft out then reload and put another 2-3 into it before it warped to you and smushed your brittle little helmet.

6 通の返信xSPADEDxxにより編集済み: 10/14/2014 9:14:41 PMDoes a shotgun need a damage nerf? No absolutely not. It should be a one shot close range killing machine. What it needs is less ammo, my comedian carries a little over 30 rounds and i personally think that's absolutely ridiculous for a weapon with so much power. To a pro slider shotgunner that's an easy 20+ kills without looking for ammo.

1 返信Shotguns didn't need to be nerfed at all. I'm not seeing this "instakill from across the room" people are complaining about. Shotguns go from doing massive damage at the range they were, y'know, INTENDED FOR, to shooting cotton candy past a few feet. You may as well just call them gunblades for all the range they have. If shotguns are OP because they can instakill in certain situations, then so are snipers and fusion rifles. Guess we better just make everything do 2 points of damage per shot.

If you're in shotgun range in the raid, you're in a bad place and you're probably about to die (90% chance.) Praetorians slap you around and have 1 hit our defender titans in hard mode, fanatics explode when they get close for the 1 hit kill, supplicants explode on you and that's usually a 1 hit kill and the bosses have a ground AoE slam that either 1 hits you or leaves you 1 hit for their follow up shot.

1 返信Strange enough the poll flipped around completely since i´ve watched it 15 !minutes! ago. This smells like cheesepizza.

2 通の返信it doesn't matter because shotgun were never a good option in pve (unless you're playing patrol lol). Fusions rifles and snipers is the way to go
-
2 通の返信Snipers far out performed shotguns in pve. Would you rather snipe a praetorian or shot gun it

rayvynにより編集済み: 10/15/2014 9:26:23 PMI have avoided shotguns altogether; honestly shotguns feel like the most under-powered weapons in the game, pve and pvp. Why bother with an underpowered secondary weapon that takes 3-4 hits for a kill when I can 1-2 shot kill almost anything except bullet sponges with a hand cannon. edit: For the record, nerfs aren't the way to go. Don't make our tools less effective. Don't just add hit points to make things harder because it doesn't; it makes it longer and in a boring way. If you're removing an exploit, that's one thing, because I'm not a fan of them in the first place, but avoid the classic nerf methods. We're all familiar with them and none of us really approve. Bungie: please innovate, don't imitate.

1 返信They specifically mentioned 2 perks in the update to shotgun that can no longer be combined. My guess is ppl were exploiting said combonation and giving shotguns unintended killing range.
