Just watch, I know some of it looks like a early build.
But how come that early build seems so much better than the final in terms of mechanics and gameplay.
EDIT: I still like the game but this is what I thought Destiny was going to be.
EDIT 2: shout out to all the people still defending this, you guys are the reason things like this will keep happening!
EDIT 3: Changed title to clarify more

1 返信I thought the final build is always supposed to be better than alpha and early builds. It's still a good game but this video makes Destiny pale in comparison.

Can't say I've seen this video before, but Jebus I wish I hadn't. The game-start co-op experience is very cool with the way the friend was literally "dropped off". Why did that get cut? It's a cool way to show off the neat ship designs when joining a friend in the field. I agree with most of the other posters here. So much potential... I would love to see all of that "real geometry" mentioned in the beginning. Right now it's beautiful. I just want wait for "space skyrim meets mass effect MMO"... Hopefully that's in here somewhere.

It's funny how bungie kept quiet about the reef before the game and let everyone speculate to it being another ante or a special social hub for raids or whatever and the whole time they were counting the preorders laughing how it was a shitty cutscene or two

So just a lesson you should probably hold onto for the future, never judge a game on pre-alpha game play at an expo. Demos are rarely ever concrete on how the game is going to end up. Sometimes you are lucky and much isn't changed, other times a lot is. Yea it would have been nice as a lot of the story seemed better, especially with meeting everyone's favorite awoken on Earth, but it's not all bad how it did turn out.

8 通の返信Mechanics and gameplay are more or less the same. Presentation and sense of scale however have obviously changed. I believe Bungie wanted to give us this vast world but due to a lot of development problems they couldn't. Which is sad but that's how these things pan out.

1 返信I would have hated to have to follow Dinkerbell around in the dark. Having him act as an instant flashlight right over my shoulder is so much more practical. This whole thing is basically what we got, albeit more polished. The Ketch still shows up at the beginning of the game and knocks over the scenery and everything. The only thing I wish they would have implemented was the Jump Ship fly-by for player entrances. So cool...

Bungie always said they had a ten year plan. Then followed that by showing "whats in development so far." Not once did they ever say that everything in every video and every statement released would be available at launch. They showed a lot of content that people are claiming was cut out to be sold later. It was never "cut out." Dont be ignorant. Some of it was created along with the launch version as ideas were thrown around and overall story created but the plan all along was to drop it on us bit by bit with paid dlc. Was some cut out due to writer change late in development? Yes. But we wont see that as story drops. We will see the story drops the new writers come up with. All the soon to release dlc was always planned as dlc whether it was in trailers or already partially on disk. And a lot of what you see in those vids will come out with time.

As others have pointed out, this video looks much like the final release, with a few aesthetic elements tweaked. The area outside Russia isn't playable and even if it was, so what? The gameplay is the same, no matter what areas it is occurring in. There will be expansions in the future to include more areas and, yes, the initial release definitely gives you $60 worth of content and then some. Really, the only actual gameplay differences shown are the custom drop zones, which really, the demo doesn't even show that. For all we know, that was the start point for that mission, so that's where the player was dropped of.

23 通の返信Okay here it goes. I am getting ready to catch hell for this... This was a SCRIPTED cinematic tech demo. NOT game play... »» The part about the playable area. Did anyone listen? He clearly said "some day we could send you there" »» The random battles.. SCRIPTED »» The.. Green Engram.. You guys notice the exotic? SCRIPTED »» The level 5 Hunter with Exotic helmet.. OKAY... »» The cheesy voice-overs.. SCRIPTED »» The cinematic public event where the guy is shooting randomly at the Devil Walker.. LOOKS better than the real way to damage him.. makes it exciting. SCRIPTED »» The scenes with the Speaker you ask? They can make cutscenes really fast. They developed the game. Do you think it's impossible for then to position the Speaker near a Guardian and do a bit of voice work? »» The Ghost saying different stuff? Same as above. Also the handy dandy light he has is another simple thing for them to do in a cinematic demo. Nothing about this was anything more than a video that looks like game play, they made in the studio and slapped some voice-overs on top of it.
