Edit2: Quite a few people have replied about how they 'clear' a zone, go to another one and then come back and everything has respawned. I am here to dispel this illusion. You should never have to leave your zone at all. Once one node/chest is looted, another will respawn immediately elsewhere in your zone. Don't waste time traveling back and forth between 2 different zones. Instead, use that time to learn the spawn points a little better to make your loops that much more profitable.
Also, while I am at work I cannot confirm this, but I am almost positive that turning in bounties does not give you marks. If I am wrong, I will slap my own wrists. However, if I am right, all of those people screaming to just do the pvp bounties won't help with marks, only rep.
Edit1: I forgot to mention that while farming materials, I also kill every mob on the route as well as completing any patrol missions that don't require me to leave the mini zone. I get at least 5 or so blue engrams each hour, rep from the patrol missions and exp from killing eveeything. I also stop and complete the public event each time he pops up as well. If you did none of these, you may well be able to push it past 150/hour!
I see a lot of people complaining about being forced to pvp in order to get those extra 100 marks for more epics and shards/energies. I am here to tell you about an option you know about, but probably didn't realize how efficient it can actually be.
To start off, you all know you need 100 marks to cap your vanguard/crucible for the week. I am sure that you know that you also can turn in 50 of any material (spinmetal, relic iron, spirit bloom, helium coils) for rep/marks to the quartermaster of either the vanguard or the crucible. You get 5 marks for every 50 of any material you turn in, as well as 250 glimmer and a bit of rep for that faction. This translates into 10 materials needed per every mark you need to earn. For instance, if you wanted to cap your entire 100 vanguard/crucible marks (as I have done for the past two weeks for crucible), you need 1,000 of any of the 4 materials.
At first glance, it may seem like a daunting task. However, if you are one of those out there that can't stand to sit in the crucible for 15 minute matches and only get 2 marks for a loss, then this may be the option for you. Find an area that you know where most of the material and chest spawn points are at. Once you know your circuit, pop on a movie or some music and make your rounds. Personally, I enjoy Mars the most. I come from an MMO background and farming things is something I enjoy. I actually kept track of the last two hours of farming before posting this and I was able to get 150 relic iron per hour on Mars. This equates to a little over 6 hours of farming to get crucible marks maxed for the week, which in my opinion trumps spending 12 hours in the crucible losing 50 matches to max instead!
I realize this post isn't flaming someone, whining, or begging for something to be changed. Sorry for thinking outside the box and trying to help the community of players who actually like the game! Peace out, and good farming.

8 通の返信Chests and materials have a distinct sound. Whenever I'm near one, I can hear it and that's how I found a lot of unusual spawning places that aren't mentioned in any of the video's. My co-op buddy can't hear them, but he only has his TV audio, while I have 5.1 sound.

That's what I've been doing too. I grav any fallen/headshot/whatever easy bounties there are, hop over to the moon, pop some either seeds, grab the kill/kill and collect missions, and farm helium. Jumping on any public events as well. Multitasking.

Im dont do pvp, not in the past MMO games and not in this, just tring once. Im just hate pvp. So im doing daily, weekly heroic, strike missions and spirit bloom farming. I just started this routine recently and i already have legendary gear and im just getting close to the next one, and im not even bored with that. PVE, and Co-OP is fun. PVP is really painfull if you not win. I rather die 10 times from a captain in a strike mission like once in the PVP headshot from a camper. Bungie provide a good balance between pve, coop and pvp. Who doesn't like/want to do pvp also can enjoy the game. And im not a noob, i tried pvp and i have good kill score but hate is anyway. However only farming is a boring and time expensive way. Do heroic, strike and other coop too.

In fact, I'd be surprised if you even broke 100. 150/60 minutes = 2.5 relic iron per minute. Yea, that's not happening even if you knew where all the spawns were located at and completely ignored all the mobs which isn't happening. Yea, you're full of it. If they actually expect people to grind mats for marks they need to make the turn ins 20-30. 50 is WAY too excessive.

1 返信I love this post. The game is setup to have somewhat of a balance and everyone keeps trying to take the easy route by whining on forums. Honestly i say they are trying to ruin a good game early. Bungie can do bad all by themselves IMO. Way to play the game they made and make it work for you, instead of trying to get something handed to you! i wish i had more thumbs, but heres 2 point up!

4 通の返信My god....this makes World of Warcraft farming seems like a wet dream.... I can think of nothing worse than running in circles on Bungies sandboxed, derelict planets collecting these meaningless materials to get gear that ultimately leads to one single additional smidgen of content. I would gold farm WoW for days over doing this for a few hours. "Ni Hao"

9 通の返信It's a good method. How often do you get a rare/large drop from a chest on your run

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. I've recently discovered that I strangely enjoy farming as well through the queens wrath bounties. Getting the 200 head shots at the cosmodrome and circling around for spin metal has put me well over 200 pieces of it now, ha. With no guns / equipment to use it on currently it has turned into a weird quest of foraging an preparing for that inevitable winter of loot that's in the horizon which will utilize it. I will be heading to Mars tonight for sure. Any zone you recommend? Also, here is my PSN, if you're on a PS4 that is: Jon-Hop Glad to co-op farm anytime if you see me online and vice versa.

4 通の返信If you abandon a mission does it come back? Do you have to go to orbit to reset it? I notice the beacon light goes out when you abandon quests

3 通の返信If you have capped your marks for the week, be it Van/Cruc, what do you get for handing in 50 mats?
-
The only problem i have with that is keeping reserves for weapon upgrades. I see that as a priority over crucible marks thru farming. If players truuuly hate pvp thdn go for it but it'll take way longer for a maxed out legendary weapon.

2 通の返信I find though that in course of doing matches for the crucible bounties I end up reaching the cap anyways. But yeah I get what you're saying for some people this might not be the case. I just adopt the attitude personally of letting the marks come as they may.

6 通の返信The_Moustacheにより編集済み: 10/3/2014 8:26:57 PMI like Earth, personally. I'm surprised more people don't try and do this a little. Whenever I manage to get 50 of anything, I turn them in for extra marks. This isn't quick or the best way, but every little bit helps. I need 1 more spinmetal and I can trade those in for 5 more marks and get two pieces of gear instead of having to do 2 Crucible matches for the 4 I need. I'm a Monster Hunter, Phantasy Star, and Disgaea vet, so grinding is fun to me.

I managed to earn 90 Marks in about 9-10 of gameplay just from playing Rumble (Im freaking good at this mode) and I was winning majority of the games. I will give your method a shot and see how that works for me :) Thanks for the tip!

This thread is beautiful. I am fairly good at the Crucible (usually average a 2.6 kd) but my connection is fairly temperamental and I can rarely find a Crucible match that doesn't lag horribly. Thank you for offering an alternative to the Crucible. You are doing God's work, son.

12 通の返信I have this sweet spot on earth where I farm spinmetal/chests . On Monday, I farmed it for 3 hours while doing missions and events. I walked away with over 700 spinmetal and like 9 engrams. I capped my vanguard marks in one day.and I got like 50 crucible marks too. Not to mention the faction rep. I did already have some spinmetsl already

9 通の返信I've actually been doing this for vg marks while I'm trying to build up gun parts. A particularly rich place to do this is in Old Russia where they do the walker event. You'll commonly find chests in the far corner where the sniper spawns out of, over where the drop ships land has at least 5 common spawns for the chests, and you'll find spinmetal pretty much all over the entire area. Remember to grab the field quests to earn extra faction points as well as your extra cash.

This is all sound advise. I just spent about 2 and 1/2 hours on Earth running a loop killed about 700 fallen and got 225 spin metal so yeah It's better then the Crucible If you ask me. My last Crucible I got 22 kills but I still hate the damn thing,I'd rather farm it.
