I just wanted to chime in here as another experienced member of the games industry in test and design, worked for indie to AAA on multiple platforms. I also work in marketing and sales (sorry games industry, but money and time for family and friends was more important to me :p) One thing I can say is this, it doesnt matter how good the intentions are, or the reasons behind some decisions, or the amount of work gone into a project, it is a product to be consumed by customers. If the customers dont like it, you have to do something.
I am fully aware of the effort and love poured into this game, and I am grateful for it. I am personally enjoying it, but feel it is lacklustre (for reaosns discussed throughout these forums). But the development team need to resolve this issue. I would like to point to Create Assembly and their recent game, Total war: Rome 2. The community were very dissatisfied with the game, and Createive assembly spent a year getting it to a point that appeased the fans.
This needs to be done here.
You say that game took a year to reach fan approval? Destiny hasn't even been out for a month, and look at the changes they've already made, and the ones coming on Tuesday.
For me, that is a huge deal. It's a clear sign of Bungie taking what we say, and doing something about it. Changes will come gradually, not all at once.
Take my "preferred" game of choice, Battlefield. Updates to those games would come maybe once every few months, with very little communication from the devs. Battlefield 4 was a massive turd. Deal with a game as broken as that for over a year, and you can appreciate something like Destiny.
