First off this isn't a troll post. Simply stated the PS4 and Xbone were not powerful enough to let the full ambitions of destiny come to fruition. This is evident by the fact that the first few press events that Destiny was displayed at were all on pc. All of these features that people wanted in the game such as ships dropping you off and being able to go everywhere you could see, all this was being shown on high end PC's. Microsoft had to send a team of coders to help bungie achieve 1080p with destiny on the xbone and Microsoft is having to do the same with COD: AW. No I'm not bashing the xbone or blaming it on them, because guess what the PS4 is only marginally better hardware wise, it's specs only add a miniscule amount of better performance. This is only theoretical but it's not that hard to believe that this is the reason why the game is gimped. *EDIT* As a few people have noted, and I admit I should have put this in the first post, the problem is also due to Destiny being developed for the previous generation of consoles.
