Your rewards logic is flawed. The problem isnt the system, its the gamers.
The game provides long term, moderate progressive sustainability but players simply dont gave the patience.
If you win a strike or crucible you get random rewards. If no rewards you get marks and reputation. Players have decided that marks and reputation are too slow but many seasoned MMO players see this as business as usual. The fps players need to realize the genre they have stepped into and if they choose to not take it for what it is then cut your losses.
Yes the game does need more things to do to quell our downtime after marks have been capped but the engram farming loot cave/mission suicide was not the answer. We need mini games/leaderboards a ship reputation system to buy legendary ships. I dont know. Just something akin to crafting or gathering in mmos.
Either way ive seen games have worse starts and are still going strong 5 years later. This game will last just fine

Its funny that people keep saying this but expect this game to occupy the next 6 months of their time whilst playing the game 8 hrs a day. Im right there with you that this is not an MMO but to deny that its using MMO elements to supplement their pve so they did not have to reinvent the wheel is just plain naive.
-
You misunderstood me. I'm saying that of course people are having trouble buying into the MMO design. Bungie specifically said that it's not an MMO. Why would someone read/hear that and then expect an MMO-lite experience?
-
So your telling me us "the gamers " have to suffer because bungie wants to make the game last for 10 years, take a page out of borderlands its just not going to happen , xbox 360 servers will be shut off by 2017 , im stuck at lvl 28 and there's no point to play any more , if i want to get to lvl 30 i would have to: Play the Vault Of Glass 5-8 more time and get a full set of raid gear, as well as 48 shards to upgrade them all , so with the queen missions being crap now and not getting shards from them, its going to take at least 5-7 days more in hardcore grinding , so idk what to do , no like every time i try todo the vault the team falls apart , i dont want to say it but im kinda over destiny and its only in the 3 weeks old , the content is the same shit over and over and over , with maybe a purple but we all know that will turn blue at the tower ... let me know what u guys think , kinda a rage post lol

Well, I just want to say that you need a small break from the game then. I don't know how long you've played, I haven't looked at your stats. Honestly, too many people are playing this game for hours every day. I love this game, I've only played for 4 days total so far and plan on playing the whole week next week. You just need to be a little patient with the game. I like the way they designed it, they made it different. It's just a little annoying to see everyone complain about it. The way they designed the game was brilliant. People are just looking for the ranking up/gear part of the game. I like to examine the aspects of it to see what they did, and I have to say, they put a lot more into the game than people are giving them credit for. Moving from that, I get you're stuck at 28, I can imagine it would be hard to get the gear, but for some reason, with me at least, every time I play the game again, even a different mission, I learn something new. I will learn how an enemy fights, how to take them down. I feel like if you focused more on how the game plays rather than how much you really want that piece of armor, you'll get more out of it. I'm going to speak my mind about the story right now too since I'm talking a lot. I actually liked the story, I felt like they did their job. They said that people would be wondering what happened and questions would be answered. I admire how they did that portion of the game. Bungie implemented the story just enough to give you a small taste of it and now you just need to let your mind do the thinking. What happened then, or where does this connect to that. It's more post-questions than questions you think of while playing, because when I play I just want to shoot things and destroy them because it is a lot of fun. I feel like this is the reason I enjoy destiny, at least those 4 days, so much. The story was not as strong as I would have liked, but there's no such thing as a perfect game. This game has a lot of my tastes in it, and I can see that a lot of the people here completely disagree. They probably don't think this deeply. Just do me a favor and try to examine Destiny (Even if it's a little bit of the mechanics or something) and then say how you like it. I could be wrong. I don't know how much you've thought about the game, I'm just speaking off of what you said in your reply. I can't base anything from it. Also, the xbox thing - They expect people to be done with the 360 by 2017 because eventually they'll stop making new games for it and force people to move to the xbox or ps. Either way, you can transfer your stuff to the Xbox One when you get one, if you still like the game, and continue there.

Haha well people don't want to call this an MMO but want to play it like one. If this were CoD or BF4 you would be in pvp for the remainder of the term instead of building your character via "the grind". 5-7 days isn't a tough grind in my book. But I am use to this play style. At the end of the day, if you have beaten VoG and consider that the end then all good. Ultimately, dlc will drop, old gear will become obsolete and the new grind will begin. Whether this will upset old players or not its business as usual.

Nourfaceにより編集済み: 9/26/2014 1:06:01 AMEveryone agrees the story is an issue. As for loot, bungie added 3 systems to keep players on a level playing field. Raids/marks/engrams. To say luck is an unfair system is as dumb an argument as I have ever seen since everyone is on the same playing field. You could easily compare this luck drop system to any loot table+rng roll mechanic that exists in every mmo. Best gear in game drops 1x a week has a loot table that exists invluding 2pieces of gear for up to 8 jobs or more and an rng roll system that forces you to compete with others IF you get lucky enough for your item to drop. If you think the old system is better in comparison you are just being an elitist. I currently play ffxiv and feel relieved that I don't beed to belong in a hardcore group to progress and can play this leisurely with friends.

MacKinderにより編集済み: 9/26/2014 1:08:25 AMThe luck systems in almost every MMO is backed up by a performance reward system. Destiny does not have this system. Wanting to be rewarded based on this system isn't elitist. RNG loot systems don't promote competition...
-
How is that the case? At what point in any of those games were you rewarded with something based in performance after just a few weeks? In most games ive played it takes at least near 3 months to achieve BiS because the luck of rng loot tables and rng roll system is a double hammer. I really don't know if you have really played those games if you are saying that performance trumps luck based drops because it doesn't.

TF2 has trophies and loot items given to players who preforms well. Wow gives loot to players who complete hard challenges. Eve allows players who win battles to pick up rewards from their defeated enemies. Saying that a completely random loot system is better than a system based on hard work as skill is completely stupid. If someone goes in to PvP and literally sits there(which players do) and receive exotic gear compared to someone who puts effort into making a good performance and receives nothing there's a problem with your system. To not even have loot drop from bosses is ridiculous. Enjoy your rabbits feet and four leaf clovers.

Nourfaceにより編集済み: 9/26/2014 2:32:02 AMEve and tf2 are two extremely competitive mmos. Destiny hasn't gotten to this level of design yet, so to compare it is inane. The loot system is a casual one and its only downfall is the jealousy that players exude. WoW does not drop best loot in game thats sent straight to your box for completing hard challenges. If you want BiS in WoW prepare to raid.
-
TF2 and Eve are competitive games because the loot is fun and worth while. Players can be understandably passed when those who preform well aren't rewarded. WoW still has a great reward system for all kinds of loot, not just the best weapon or the best piece of armor.

Nourfaceにより編集済み: 9/26/2014 3:15:18 AMSo you effectively want to flex your epeen. Sorry to burst your bubble but the game is designed to help progress players of all skill levels. Having a system that favors only those with skill is why the raid is designed. You can effectively flex there. To deny players of lesser skill, gear and chance to stay on an even playing field only creates a large disparity in players gear and favors elitism in a game where it shouldnt. Everyone is paying the same money here and the game needs a way to reflect that.

I am a casual and speaking as one I can say without a doubt that getting no reward for my time and effort is frustrating. I also run the largest casual clan for the 360 and I can say everyone there agrees with me as well as those on the forum. I want a return on my time investment and effort, not a slot machine that might reward me after 5 minutes or 5 hours.
