Completely crap location. From MY experience just roaming around in patrols get you the best gear. Like legendaries.

Your anecdotal experience doesn't change how loot drops work. Drops and what you get from engrams are completely random. Thus the best way to farm for engrams is to kill as many enemies in as short amount of time as possible.

This location and having to wait for a death takes too much time. If you were to choose a better location the cave is by far the most efficient known so far. The fact that this location is terrible still stands.

It takes ~3 seconds to start up again after you die and spawns ~40 mobs at once. If you have your super charged (which you can easily get every other run) you can get 30+ kills in a couple seconds. The mobs come much faster than the spawns in the treasure cave too since you don't have to wait for them to spawn and they charge right at you.

Each time you go there the cutscene kills your time ratio. And the fact that at least 5-6 hive spawn every 3 seconds makes up for the 40 easily. Especially since you don't have to wait on getting killed to start over. Just a constant stream of killing. Not to mention the random helpers that you can get making it that much easier. Getting bored? Just sit outside and let others kill, grab some food and come back. Not as much work or time for these kills.
