But here's a question if they we're former followers of the light why are they unable to channel it's powers? In fact if they we're it could give us better insight into OUR powers as well.

    A valid question! Perhaps the Traveller stripped them of all abilty to channel Light as a punishment, perhaps they used it too cruelly? Perhaps they never had time to learn to use it as we have, the Traveller stayed and fought for us, and in it's sacrificed it invested it's Light in us, perhaps it didn't fight for the Fallen, it just fled, enough time to show them the shape of it's power but never touching them with it, like the man who sees the light of the fire but cannot stay long enough to feel it's warmth? And perhaps there is much we can learn from the Fallen, from whatever power they wielded in their former glory and from the methods they employ to so tenaciously cling to dominion now. For if the Ligh of the Traveller does fail, perhaps wil ned to resort to similar methods? Perhaps that is our Destiny?[spoiler]The Exo Stranger bore no Ghost claims she was not "forged in Light" how then does she still carry the fight?[/spoiler]The possiblities...

  • I'm actually wondering: Maybe they do in a rudimentary sense. Obviously nothing extravagant that can wipe out entire packs of their enemies like what we utilize, but the Captain's short-distance teleport......it looks an awful lot like a Blink-esque move that just moves its user along the ground instead of into the air like ours. Maybe they [i]were[/i] touched by the Light and learned some things from it, just not much, or maybe it's triggered by an advanced piece of equipment in the Captain's armor. Incredibly hard to say, but aside from the direction it carries its user, there is quite definitely a similarity between our Voidwalkers and Bladedancers and their Captains in that respect. Another thing I noticed is that, while it's not as much of an offensive tool as the Fists of Havoc some Titans use, the Archons (And their variants such as the Archon Priest) and I believe the one Kell we've encountered as well are capable of generating a seismic blast at their feet when we close in. Think about it: In both cases the user slams an extremity into the ground at the center of the blast (Our fists, their foot as they step back to trigger it) and out comes a lethal AOE blast capable of outright obliterating even powerful Guardians if they're close enough to the impact point. Different cultures can, without trying, create the same technological concepts in vastly different ways (Such as the Fallen's Walkers VS the Cabal's Goliaths on the subject of Main Battle Tanks), why not in the ways the Traveler's light is wielded too? Speaking of, I'm just going to leave this as a closing note, but perhaps, and I stress the word perhaps here, the Fallen Archons and Kells have attained their position not only through ruthless lethality amongst their peers, but also because they were touched by what tiny little shimmer of Light the Traveler might've given them before it fled or abandoned them, hence why they can utilize these abilities so potently compared to the rest? It might also be why the Archons are chosen to communicate with the Servitors: If the Servitors are fashioned in the Traveler's image, wouldn't someone even faintly touched by the Light of the god-like figure said Servitors replicate be a natural pick for the position?

  • I like the idea here - if each of the enemy species were at one time touched by light, it would certainly explain why all damage belongs to one of the three groups (Solar, Void, Arc - not really counting Kinetic)... Nicely thought out!

  • It would be a great story line tweak for a major DLC if you could choose to have a character forged in light or not...
