And I agree but not for the reason she states. I’m 43 year old professional with two kids and I play video games. Always have from the day video games were played in the Arcade. She cannot believe I would take time off work for the rest of the week to play a game. She asks me when I’m going to grow up. Well… honestly if grown-ups don’t play video games I really don’t want to grow up. As far a vacation time goes, the last vacation we took was at Christmas last year and we took a south Carrabin cruise for 7 days. Now, that was expensive and by the 6th day all I wanted was to go home and eat some real home cooking. After this vacation (at home with Destiny) I will only be wanting more and this is my idea of a vacation. Go to faraway places, meet new people, try new things, drink too much and maybe get into a fight. All this from the comfort of my lazy-boy and on plasma and the bathroom is right across the hall next to the fridg.
Thanks for all the support guys, some real good stuff here to read.

Ya most of the people that complain about my gaming watch complete and utter garbage on the TV where there is no interaction at all, so until my gaming makes me loose my job or my house .....me no care if people likey.

Video games now gross higher than Movies. Does she like to sit in a large dark room with other people and have made up stories shown to her while she just sits there? Does she like to put coloured pigment on her face? Are small papery things bound with glue that tell stories only for children? To think games are for children is to be out of touch with the medium. Are Pixar animations for children only too?

3 通の返信Earth moon and venus completed. I give it a 7 out of 10 so far and I am being generous. The entire mission structure consists of this. Press square for ghost and defend waves of enemies. That is all you will be doing for 5 hours straight. No variety just the same boring shit. No memorable set pieces here folks. Killzone shadow fall was garbage and that had better set pieces. That being said, I like the art style and atmosphere. Will post more inpressionz after i fight the kabal. P.s keep your expectations in check. Think of the game as a first person warframe with about the same quality missions.

I read this laughing with my wife looking over my shoulder making a funny frowny face to keep from laughing herself. We are the same age with the same number of kids. After the last cruise I said I was never going on a boat I wasn't crewing ever again. If I could have taken the time off, I would have. As to vacations, though, you are missing all the fun. Don't bother meeting new people, just go far away and look around. It's like Destiny out there man, but much stranger.

My wife doesn't bother me about games but.. Easiest way to handle when a person says "You still play games? Aren't you to told for that? Reply "...have you seen how old some of the developers are? " Adults make games. Adults make kid cartoons. They play them, they watch them. Etc. Never let the boy or girl inside If you die. Our imagination is born as we're kids, and as adults we either grow to cherish imagination and the imagination of others even more, or We go to our 9 to 5 job, eat, sleep, repeat... Besides. How cool is it to see a parent and kid game together? I've never thought of it looking ridiculous. As long as you teach them priorities, it's all good. Same for the adult.

until I noticed Root Calvin @ 59yrs young I was gonna say your all kids, at least the ones that mentioned your ages considering I'm 53yrs young. Yes I also started out with the pong system and pretty much every game console thereafter as well as pumping quarters into every pinball and arcade game that came along. At some point I even picked up my wife 35yrs ago. She isn't crazy over the games like she was back then but she understands my gaming passion. I can't say I was or am a professional because that's mighty big hat to wear but I did work the same job as upper management in major automotive retail and service for 28yrs straight up to my now disability, yup I have plenty of time for Dstiny.

I'm the same; 43 married (no kids) and work as a professional for a large multinational. Gaming's been one of the biggest part of my life since Atari 2600 and coin ops. Gaming is a passion and a pass time like anything else - escapism at it's finest. There's no "growing up" from gaming any more than one would grow out of playing golf or watching football on Sunday. The faster your spouse accepts it for what it is, the better. (Mine neither understands or is interested in it, but let's me do my thing with only mild annoyance).

I hear you, I'm a 38 year old professional with 4 kids. I play video games and guitar(my two hobbies) and find nothing wrong with it. In fact my wife enjoys atching me play(some games at least.. skyrim comes to mind). So relax, we are the generation that will break the mold for what adults do for fun. Lance

Sometimes it makes me wonder about just what hobbies people would prefer we have as we get older. My mom sells Mary Kay and shops like her credit card is on fire. My bff's mom sells Tupperware and her dad disco dances in competitions. My dad used to fish and golf and drink beer with friends and family while BBQing. And there's nothing wrong with these things but they were never for me. I care for my home and family and schedule and organize and attend social functions I don't care for because they are important to people around me. But I like staycations. I love to hibernate in my home with a good game or a good movie and have my bathroom breaks when I want, have food that doesn't cost half the price of a new car and can spend time doing what I want. And I don't ever intend to grow up if it means doing what others think I should do instead of what I want to do. I love my family. I make sure their needs are usually ahead of mine. But I deserve to care for myself too. Because my family would definitely suffer if I was a horrible monster because I had to host yet another Tupperware party.

OP, you're in very good company. I'm over 59 (let's just leave it at that), given to some occasional binge video gaming, but pretty tame overall. The wife just doesn't understand any better over here. I trace back to my kid's NES, then Quake over dial-up, and eventually X360 playing a mix of Halo, ME, COD, and few others. Got to say, Destiny is about the only thing I've "wanted" to play for more than a year now. Glad it's finally here; wish I actually had the time to stay home and play tomorrow. Don't think that would go over well with some of my staff; they know my gamer tag ;-)
