And I agree but not for the reason she states. I’m 43 year old professional with two kids and I play video games. Always have from the day video games were played in the Arcade. She cannot believe I would take time off work for the rest of the week to play a game. She asks me when I’m going to grow up. Well… honestly if grown-ups don’t play video games I really don’t want to grow up. As far a vacation time goes, the last vacation we took was at Christmas last year and we took a south Carrabin cruise for 7 days. Now, that was expensive and by the 6th day all I wanted was to go home and eat some real home cooking. After this vacation (at home with Destiny) I will only be wanting more and this is my idea of a vacation. Go to faraway places, meet new people, try new things, drink too much and maybe get into a fight. All this from the comfort of my lazy-boy and on plasma and the bathroom is right across the hall next to the fridg.
Thanks for all the support guys, some real good stuff here to read.

2 通の返信I am 24 about to be 25 I will not date or marry a woman who has issues with video games for the simple fact that I enjoy them and they let me kill things which keeps me from doing it to some jack ass at work or the girlfriend when they both start their shit. truth be told video games have kept me out of jail. I like to go out and do things with other people but some times there are times where I just want to be home relaxing drinking and playing a game.

10 通の返信Amen brother. 32/M/1kid. Same scenario. She doesn't care if I'm yelling at people in the crucible for doing stupid shit, but the minute I put on my headphones and talk shes there in the living room like a state farm commercial.... "who you talking to?!"

See I solved my problem by getting a girl that enjoys video games. I'll let her play destiny when she asks (granted it's like an hour every 2-3 days). Or since I have a tv and a 19 inch computer monitor I'll hook the ps4 up to the monitor and leave the tv for her to play last of us on the ps3 or watch anime lol

Nothing wrong with enjoying a hobby. Wives have always had problems with their husbands having a hobby, whether it be fishing, hunting, gaming, collecting, driving, whatever. Ask her this, if you were to take a week off to go fishing or hunting or something that sounds "adult" like that, would she have a problem with it? If she says no, she's a hypocrite and you should leave her. If she says yes she's a needy -blam!- and you should leave her.

It irks the crap out of me every time I see men make a post in this forum about how their wives treat them like children. You're a grown man who gets to decide what his hobbies are and how he wants to spend his time. As long as you're not neglecting your relationship with your wife or your children, your hobbies are your business. I'm certain your wife has hobbies you have no interest in. I know mine does. But we don't sit around judging each other based on our individual interests. I know how other people's relationships function are none of my business. And different people make things work in different ways. But so many times on here I see someone say something about their SO that demonstrates a complete lack of respect on the part of their SO for them.

There is nothing wrong with you. Video games is not kids-only. There is something wrong with your wife. Clearly you married someone who doesn't have the same interests as you do. Clearly she doesn't love you or else she would support you or find something she can enjoy instead of whining because you have something fun to do. I would divorce her if I was you and find some chick on Destiny and marry her.
-
Well you HAVE played this game roughly 80+ hours. That's over four hours a day! For a family man that's a lot from my perspective. But I'm guessing nobody forced you to marry her so what do you want us to say? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, just wondering.

I feel you man. I'm 40 my wife gives me dirty looks every time she sees me playing video games. What confuses me is that she bought me a PS3 and also a Wii U as past Christmas presents, talk about mix messages.

1 返信Gaming USED to be for kids. Then we grew up, and didn't stop gaming. Its almost as if the medium has evolved with the audience.

If you have a lot of holidays, and you don't take them, why not take a couple days to chill at home? If you've got, say, 3 weeks, and you take one vacation in a year, you have 2 more weeks of holidays every year, so why not use them when you can?

PirateRNにより編集済み: 9/10/2014 2:45:39 PMMy wife thinks it's great that I play video games. She is asking me "Why don't you play a game?". I have been playing video games since I bought the original Atari as a teenager working at Toys R Us (Adventure was my favorite game). Don't grow up, play hard! Btw, I'm 53, have 2 kids and 4 grandkids. Old Guys Rule!

4 通の返信I agree and disagree.. I LOVE video games, LOVE them but most hobbies consume a few hours here and there. Some gamers put thousands of hours into games. I can see where if you are in a relationship and you literally spend half of your life playing video games then perhaps you aren't ready to have a great relationship. Now if you and your significant other both share the same hobby, that's awesome. But don't expect to have your cake and eat it too. Some women require more than an hour here and there of your attention. If they don't like the fact that you will be spending the majority of your free time playing a game then maybe a relationship isn't for you My girl encourages me to enjoy my free time. And I do, got easily over 20+ hours in since launch but I will also tone it down and spend equal time with my girl because she is my other hobby. :)

Your time off work is yours to spend as you choose. Out of principle, if my missus told me to make the choice between her and games, I would choose games simply because she's making me choose between my relationship and my way of life.

Corvynにより編集済み: 9/10/2014 1:19:17 PMAfter watching the ViDocs and making-ofs where they talk to all the developers and artists and programmers, it's hard to imagine they're sharing all this information exclusively for teenagers. They're talking to people who've been playing games, their games, for upwards of ten years. Adults play videogames. That's the world we live in.
