Destiny is only 18GB
I am installing it now on the Xbox One, ,and it appears to only be 18GB. We could have something like how the beta downloaded the rest in game though.

But don't worry, it's only timed exclusive. You should have the whole 40GB by March 2015.

13 通の返信Keep in mind that it uses a server system. Imagine the game you're downloading like a zipped file. Compressed, minimal to what the contents are. That way you can transfer it somewhere quicker. The game works the same way. Once the file on your console is "unzipped" into the Bungie server, it opens up to be something MASSIVE. I did some quick math and it's as follows. If the max a 4GB can be compressed is 10KB, then at that ratio, nearly 18GB COULD BE, but may NOT BE 6,866,455GB unzipped. Now, knowing how games typically work, I expect the 18GB to be a zipped folder of about 2 or 3 times that much. Keep in mind that none of that means a thing. Those are POSSIBILITIES. And also that I'm sure there's extra room for updates, add-ons, etc. that Bungie intends to make in the near or far future. Just a thought. lol

What you are referring too is the size of the compressed download file. Not the actual install size. Confirmed install size on PS4 is going to be around 40GB, so you can bet the Xbox versions will be about the same.

7 通の返信I have never downloaded a game by itself on console that came close to that. That's a fairly large download for console.

7 通の返信Notice when u click on game it comes up "manage", when the time is right (9/9 12:00 a.m. pst) it'll explode in size either by download or decompression probably both. Should end up at about 40gigs.

I ordered a hard copy and plan on sticking with that, but would I be able to pre-order a digital copy and pre-download the game (not including the bungie specific updates after installation), and then cancel and have the game downloaded to the hard drive prior to 9/9?

3 通の返信You've only predownloaded a portion of the game.... apparently you didn't play the beta. They let you download a portion of it from the PlayStation store, then you had to open the app and download the rest from Bungie servers. It'll be the same on Xbox by the way, so don't even get started Xbox users. The funniest part is everyone with digital download thinks that they will be playing early not realizing that you still have to wait for Bungie to allow the rest of the download...

1 返信Just to note, you'll recall the download during the Beta was also not that substantial. However, once you booted the game up it did an hour long 'initializing' sequence that basically tripled the download.
