I'm going a little off the track here, but what's the best thing about Baltimore? I only ask cause the Wifey is throwing around little weekend trip ideas for October and Baltimore was one of the ideas.

  • Hmm.. As a Maryland Resident I'd like to point out a lot of good things about Baltimore so I'll see what I can do.. I went there two weeks ago for an anime convention(Otakon) and enjoyed myself IMMENSELY. One thing I will have to warn is that.. well be careful around dark and you'd want to stay out of the Blue Light Districts. We drove into Baltimore and within 5 minutes a white van stopped in front of us and 5 cops got out and apprehended 2 guys on the sidewalk. This is not a deterrent though! I've been going to football games in Baltimore since I was nine years old and that was earnestly the first time I've seen anything of the sort happen. Ehem.. Sorry now I got sidetracked just trying to give friendly warnings. As far as tourist attractions I can't really think of a whole lot. First things that come to mind would obviously be the Baltimore Stadium and Orioles stadium if there happens to be a game while you're there. (Football games get REALLY packed though and tickets can be hard to procure closer to the gameday). Otherwise there's quite a few Art Museums and they're always changing up exhibits, there's about three within walking distance of each other, another thing would be the Inner Harbor is sort of a popular place for tourists. Really big Barnes and Nobles (Talking like, four gigantic floors), a variety of 'mini malls' as I call them, and an aquarium that I myself haven't visited. They also have a really big old style wooden ship docked there, though I'm not completely certain as to the details of being able to step foot on it. Lastly I know there's a smaller museum that they made out of Babe Ruth's old house growing up that's largely kept intact if you're any bit interested in that. Lastly obviously there's quite a few little restaurants all over the place, I know there was a genuine Ramen place not far from the Inner Harbor and a place called Blue Moon's Cafe that got featured on the Cooking Channel, parents went there once and told me it's actually REALLY small. Sorry if I didn't help much, hope you and the wifey enjoy yourselves wherever you decide on going!

  • We'll do baseball games everywhere at some point. I don't think it's part of the plan for October. I'm not sure what she had in mind. We were spinning different ideas around. She'll be up for any huge mall and museums, but I forgot what she was saying. Sounds like it's a plan though. There really ain't that "must see thing" there? For sure we're seeing a Yanks @ Orioles game someday.

  • No 'must sees' come to mind sadly. It's a nice, big city but as far as local residents first thing that comes to mind regarding it are the football team, John Hopkins University and all the boats.
