I it really seems like the majority of the FPS playerbase for Destiny really don't have much MMO experience.
Not having matchmaking for the most difficult of content is most definitely the way to go. However, those of a more casual/limited play schedule should still have the option of matchmaking to at least be able to access and see the content. At best, they could take a play from WoW and implement a "LFR" version.
Even if you use the EQ or WoW LFG/LFR option, people have a choice to include you or not. People know who the high end guilds for their server are, and know what type of player they are getting based on that. A random MM would be terrible. But I do like this idea...
I know I have no MMO experience to speak of. I also understand why they have no MM for this content in the game, but Destiny overall is something new that bridges a few game genres. I like many others do have to open up and learn if we want to fully appreciate Destiny and take part in all it has to offer.
This is supposed to be a hallmark area of the game. One area that few groups who attempt it will actually be successful completing it. Limited play schedules is talking to me, believe me. I can play for an hour here and there and a few hours in the evening. I will have to work at getting a group together and making time. That is how I make my choice at playing this part of the game. Players being in a clan or having a long list of friends will still have to do the same. Bungie does not have to work into my schedule.
I am advocating players take a good look at what this Raid is and play through the game first. Do what it takes to level up, build a solid - well rounded Guardian - meet the requirements, beat Nightfalls regularly, the game on it's hardest settings, then take a look at the MM for Raid question again. Why change what is already done of the sake of argument.
