Seems to be a lot of throwing back and forth of the entitled and elitist insults.
the 'entitled' are calling for raid matchmaking as an option for just that, an option.
The 'elitists' are opposed as they feel it will spoil the whole sense of a raid as it won't be coordinated etc.

on a completely unrelated note, how do i cheat on my own poll?
Please state who you voted and why.
Or else.
EDIT: the term 'elitist' doesn't refer to 'I'm an elite pro gamer' ..Heck I'll just let google explain:
Elitist is another word for “snob." If you went to Harvard, wear only the finest silk suits, and hang around only with other Ivy League graduates, then you're an elitist. A fairly recent addition to the English language, the noun elitist, came about from a mix of elite + ist in 1950. (As oppose to I'm so leet)

I've played a lot of mmos still play a lot of mmos. Match making in a nutshell allows me to not waste my time getting a group for a practice run. Because ill be honest when I go to do a raid for real it will be with friends. However for learning the raid, teaching others the raid. MM/LFG all the way. I'm a casual gamer, I dont the time to spend 3-4 hours to get folks together to do a raid attemp that likely won't go right the first 5 times. However I could with MM/LFG take that 3-4 hours cut it down to 5 minutes practice the run so that when I do have the time to do a REAL attemp at completing it I can go in knowing I have first had experience on how to complete the raid. This is the way raiding is done in mmos developers have simplified it by adding easier difficulties for people to learn the raids more easily. Thats what MM adds, what dumbs down raids are the bads demanding nerfs because even with practice because they either.. A) Didn't pay attention in the practice runs B) Couldn't find people to take them on raids so they could learn C) Didn't care to lean in the first place. It was never MM/LFG that caused raids to get nerfed.

42 通の返信TheUnknownMercにより編集済み: 7/31/2014 5:57:17 PMPeople seem to not understand...that we aren't saying only do matchmaking, IF you want to raid with a fireteam you got that fine with us. But some of us don't want elitists crying and instead want to have fun with casual gamers. In this case matchmaking is perfect Randoms are good as well but just don't play as much. And i have never had an issue with randoms. If i had a dime for everytime a guy with a golden gun and 4.0 KDR in CoD has whined and bitched about how his team sucked, how we suck, how he only died because of this this and this when i've killed him and his team multiple times, and have a higher KDR than him...i would have a lot of money...a LOT. But i'm not competitive, i had that sort of thing. Teamwork is fine but i would rather have fun dying and just playing in a Raid, and maybe not winning, than i would with elitists who whine and bitch about how it is someone ELSES fault THEY died.

Andvolfにより編集済み: 7/31/2014 8:28:12 PMI've played a few MMo's in my time and I have to say the best people for a raid are people you know. For 1 you know what there capable of and 2 you know if there reliable or not. But that doesn't mean random players are bad it just means that lack of coordination results in the whole team getting wiped and people rage quitting or they run out of time to play. If this becomes a continuing problem i'd say just add a search group option for people who want to create or join a random group. Problem solved.

2 通の返信All I have to ask is this: Who had randoms rage quit the Devil's Lair strike mission? Now magnify that feeling if they do that in a long term raid. Yeah, not feeling the matchmaking for it. I think bungie are the right call.

I guess I am an elitist, I am fine with even myself not seeing the content if it is that hardcore or if i have no luck with getting into a clan. It will still make sure that those with raid gear are people to look up to, or at least admire their gear. Unlike WoW now where literally everyone, even fresh 90s are clad in epic armor with minimal effort. Hell, even in WoW people who have no plans at all to progress beyond raid finder (aka, matchmaker), were crying about how Blizzard is going to remove raid tier gear from LFR. What, do they really need raid tier gear to kill that lvl 100 quest mob? Get real, they were crying since they were fully aware that normal raiders will no longer need to run that horrid thing anymore for a trinket or a set piece of their bonus since at times even an LFR piece would be better than a heroic piece due to just HOW POWERFUL it was due to its effect. Yeah, MM will just lead to all those dingle berries, as DukeOfSwirl referred to them, to just cry for a nerf so they can feel "special." Oh, and don't even deny that, those some idiots cried for the Interceptor to be nerfed, for I suppose that using buildings for cover, grenades, snipers, and teamwork is too hard for some people. BUT MAH LONE WOLFING, BRUH!!! Yeah, lone wolves die in the wild, DEAL WITH IT!

1 返信Look the end game content is " true dedication " not just. " I'll give it a shot, " it's dedication planning and hard work....I'm with the elitist few and not the whining many. I know I don't have to, so what's the difference if neither of us can. More bitching ? -shrugs-

8 通の返信I just don't understand how you all expect 6 people (some of which probably won't have mics) to cooperatively beat something that took a guild 16 hours only to give up. You can't tell me with a straight face that half of you won't be back here complaining about quitters/noobs.

2 通の返信I could care less if they put matchmaking in or not. I already have a raid team, so it will not affect me one way or the other. All I can say is good luck random fireteams.

nickにより編集済み: 7/31/2014 8:16:15 PMDoes anyone know if one of your members drops out of a raid, can someone else replace them, either randomly or from your friends list? I'm imagining a clan setting a time for a raid with members coming and going as needed. Say you set it up with 12 players and plan to sub in and out every hour/half-hour. Is that something that can be done?

6 通の返信Raid Matchmaking makes me think of CoD Zombies Matchmaking. There are many variables as to why: 1. People who realize they have died plenty of times will rage quit 2. You don't know the schedule of random people ("I need to go pick up my [insert here]") 3. People will get easily mad when they get reprimanded for doing something stupid, thus more rage quitting 4. Communication will be few and in-between 5. Trying to solve puzzles (Destiny) or Easter eggs (CoD) is difficult when people do not comprehend or listen to what you're saying Bungie can't fix all of these worst-case scenarios, but people can just meet up in the game or on the forums

3 通の返信Invidiaにより編集済み: 7/31/2014 8:10:31 PMI didn't vote. It isn't elitist to say that matchmaking will eventually water down the game content, it's a practical line of thinking based on all similar games and how this route has turned out. People who want it easier will bitch no matter what. "There no matchmaking !" "My gear isn't as strong because I don't feel like doing harder versions of the raid that require me to actually form a team and beat the raid!" "I played with the WORST group today!" It's never ending, but if you've ever played an MMO type game you know that a matchmaking system WILL degrade the content eventually.

sergeantawesomeにより編集済み: 7/31/2014 7:09:07 PMThe entitled are the elites. The elites feel entitled to special treatment because they think they are elite. The casuals would like a different match making system which I understand. I don't make friends online with other players unless I know that person in real life and they have a PS. I don't like making a bunch of random "friends" just to play a game that I'm probably not going to play with them anyway. I think the matchmaking system for strikes would work just fine in raids, but, I'm also sure I can find like minded individuals who are adults, and are not competitive and / or annoying and just want to have fun trying. That is what Bungie.net is for, to find others to play with.
