Something I never understood about star wars was the empire. I understand how it worked, and how it came into being but I don't understand why it was necessary. All empires represent a nation, tribe, race, or a people, but what did this empire represent. It was officially called the "Galactic empire," but what was the point of having a Galactic empire? Where there other galaxies in the star wars universe, what was their galaxy called, and would other galaxies wage war against this empire? Was it a human empire, a Sith empire, or just an excuse of palpetine to have absolute power? Can somebody elaborate on this?

3 通の返信Palpatine must be glad for the Rebellion though. He spent years manipulating everyone during the Clone Wars and probably had fun doing it. So what next? Where's the fun when you control everyone and have the most powerful army in the galaxy? I feel like without the Rebellion he would have lost purpose and motivation. Back on topic though it was like a human and Sith empire in a way. Palpatine was a Sith but he also hated aliens if I remember correctly (hence no aliens in the Galactic Empire in the films.) I'm sure there were aliens in Imperial positions but not many.

4 通の返信The EU has stories that Palpatine was preparing for an external threat. But, aside from that, using in movie facts, the Empire was an excuse to allow Palpatine unlimited power. It made the citizens feel like they were a part of something bigger. Now, aside from non-humans and dissidents, life was OK for the Imperial Citizen. Look to Rome for your example. You knew your place, and as long as you accepted that, life was good. But you had no freedom to grow or move.

4 通の返信the galactic empire didn't consist of the entire galaxy, mostly just the inner rim and parts of the middle and outer rim. It was made up of mostly humans but other species were a part of it. it commonly fought with the hutt empire and other small empires in the outer rim, it also allied with the rebel alliance/new republic to fight the Yuuzhan Vong, a species from a different galaxy bent on destroying all machinery. but in all, yes, it was just a way for Palpitine to get power. it would be like if a leader from the united nations turned the UN into one big country.

2 通の返信Palpatine created the Empire so he could control the former galactic republic for life as emperor. The worlds within the empire allowed this because of fear. Most recently, fear of the Jedi as they thought the Jedi tried to overthrow the senate. This is just my take on it.
