オリジナルの投稿元: Penalty for leaving games early

While I don't disagree with leaving penalties, there are so many things that make it hardly fair. What if the enemy team is cheating, hacking or even just glitching? you are in a helpless situation that is undesireable, should you be forced to take it, or get penalized for not doing so? What if the game is lagging beyond playability? What if your internet craps out for a moment? what about bad team members? What if they are just there to team kill? What if the rest of your team quits? Should you be penalized for not staying alone? There are too many factors for it.

 •
What if the enemy team is cheating, hacking or even just glitching? you are in a helpless situation that is undesireable, should you be forced to take it, or get penalized for not doing so?
First off, you should report those players. Second, block them so that you don't end up with that person in the future... In fact, that's one way you could detect a legitimate quit. If you quit, you'll be given a timer, but if you then block another player from that game, it removes the penalty. If you later unblock them, the penalty comes back.
What if the game is lagging beyond playability?
Most automated matchmaking systems look for optimal connections. If you were put into this game, it was the best match for you at the time, so you might as well finish it out and look for a new lobby when it's over. You might get a new game, but you also might just end up back in the one you left. If you're in a manual matchmaking situation, where you can pick and join servers. Most of those can be sorted by your connection, and you should have picked a better one to begin with.
What if your internet craps out for a moment?
Thats generally a rare occurrence. And would only set you back a little bit. If your internet is so bad that you get dropped often, you're probably already getting caught by existing systems that detect frequent quitters.
what about bad team members? What if they are just there to team kill?
The blocking solves this.
What if the rest of your team quits? Should you be penalized for not staying alone?
No, I'm down for a rated penalty based on the number of players you're leaving. If you're the last player on your team, you're leaving 0 players, so you get no penalty.

 • You're trying to justify your point by ignoring scenarios as a whole and narrowing them down to one-time specifics. You're also assuming of somebody's setup, not to mention saying that just because it's rare, its fine. the cause of quitting is dynamic by nature, and machines are just machines. You can't build a system that can know and understand the entirety of dynamic nature. This isn't a sci-fi made up world, this is life, and ignoring the majority so you can penalize the few guilty is nowhere close to logical.
