Let's be real - you all know I love men and dick, and am a flaming homo sapian.
But I don't understand when the gay population gets up in arms over a CEO of a company donating money to organizations that may or may not be anti-me, pushing for the boycott of the company. This only hurts the people who have to work there and, frankly, I don't give a -blam!- if this one guy doesn't like me. He's gonna be dead in about 25 years, along with most of his generation. Instead of going after them, we should make sure we help this next generation understand that being gay is not a disease, is not an evil concept, and teach more acceptance.
Ok, rant over. Let the CEO's spend their money where they want, as long as it doesn't directly tie the company to the anti-gay origination.

2 通の返信Come on Icy. You know what the organizations who get that money are going to do with it right? They are going to spread propaganda and messages that being gay is a disease, an evil concept, is against God, and should not be accepted. Money makes the world go round. Even for good pursuits. With more money pro-gay organizations could spread the message that being gay is not a disease, is not an evil concept, and teach more acceptance.

Really, I don't like modern society in general: "I find that offensive. I should ruin that person's life." Then it's on the news, they're being sued, their reputation is ruined because of one comment that offended a minority. And even more stupidly, it wouldn't have mattered if they had offended a majority group.

Obi Wan Stevobiにより編集済み: 4/9/2014 6:49:57 PMIt's just freedom of speech. A CEOs pay comes from the company making money, which comes from customers/donors. As a customer, if I know what I pay or what I donate (if you are talking about the Mozilla CEO situation) goes to a cause I hate, I won't give them my money. This is a perfectly rational response. Take godaddy, for instance. Their CEO posted a video of himself "hunting" a caged elephant, and he strongly supported SOPA legislation. Now, as a customer, and someone that sometimes advises others on web hosting, I stay away from, and steer others away from GoDaddy, because their CEO does things I never want to help fund. I don't think game farms are sporting, I distrust anyone stupid enough to post a video of a dying elephant on their business site, and I don't think government should have control over DNS resolution. So, I avoid any chance to give GoDaddy any money, because I don't want it used for those purposes. What is hard to understand about that? I don't like something, so I choose not to fund it. I have a harder time understanding the position that I should continue to give money to things I do not agree with. Why on Earth would I do that? At least not when there are perfectly reasonable alternatives.

I completely agree. I think it's silly that people would want to boycott a company because its CEO spends his money in such a way. It's not like he's using company funds, or that the whole company believes the same things he does.
-
1 返信I kind of get that and kind of don't. Yes, you should be able to spend your money on what you want to spend it on. But when you're the face of a corporation or even a representative of any company it seems irresponsible to publicly fund anything that can be considered or even misconstrued as racism or bigoted. I'm the head brewer at a small brewery and if I were to be an ass hat like those ass hats that openly funded bigoted potatoes (thanks autocorrect, I'll keep that one) I would expect to get fired. You are an ambassador of the company you work for and should act accordingly.

People are idiots. If you don't like him, don't eat their or don't work their. But it won't hurt his business, so don't think it will. It's like people can't have a differing opinion without somebody somewhere flipping out about it.

1 返信My problem is that people actually give two shits about sex. Yet we don't give two shits about eating, sleeping, breathing, or shitting, right?
-
Here's my problem with the whole scenario. The dude supported one bill with a donation of what, a grand or so, and the social media warriors run him out of his job. Now why don't these people put their effort into changing things that actually matter, like running corrupt government officials out of office.

Thank god a normal person, people get their panties in a bunch WAY too god damn much. Sure some things deserve it but it seems that every time somebody even mentions something bad about the LGBT, Liberal, or Feminist communities people call for blood... These are the major offenders, and represent inly the extremists of these groups... But damn they are loud
