Let's say that somehow we were able to verify irrefutably that there were extraterrestrial beings en route to our planet. (When I say "we" I mean the entire human race) We know we have exactly 10 years before they reach the Earth for some unknown purpose. Do you think that we could - as a species - get our shit together in time to face the potential of this new threat? Or would we simply continue to argue and fight petty wars until the aliens came and possibly wiped us out of existence?
Please discuss.

North Korea will probably say that they own them...they'll be the first to get wiped out. America will turn into a battleground while being allied with Eastern Europe. Middle East will remain untouched because everyone will be hiding in caves. The reapers will be here soon...

Let's be honest, if there were an alien race capable of interstellar space genocide I doubt we would be able to stop them even if we did all give each other a nice hug.

We would fight each other to the bitter end over who has the best strategy to deal with them.

So... Like the end of District 9? Maybe we would all unify somewhat. Different branches of some organization working (at worst) autonomously. This may be done to give the semblance of unity because I imagine people would generally be drawn towards unity through fear. That could also imply revolution as well. Way too many variables when we're talking about events at a global scale.
