Thorn, by the way, is that crazy spiky revolver. I'd been wondering about this last night, thinking something like "most weapons in the game have a backstory and reason behind their construction.... What justifies this jagged monstrosity?"
I think I remember hearing that human weapons are connected to (0r powered by) the traveler. So maybe Thorn was a human weapon that, in the Traveler's sacrifice, absorbed inordinate amounts of energy, warping it into its bizarre shape and making it far stronger.

2 通の返信I am pretty sure that it is a golden age or pre-fall design aesthetic... the Arcus Regime doesnt appear to be a pre-fall device, just a really old one... and here is the supporting evidence of my opinion. we know two definitive pieces of golden age or pre-fall tech... two that definitly are... the exos http://www.destinypedia.com/images/8/81/ExoConcept.jpg and the thorn http://www.destinypedia.com/images/1/19/Thorn_ingame_tp.jpg Notice a recurring theme here?! What you call out of place... I call a hint of dark time... implication that things were not quite what we thought they were...

Of course, this is the idea ... To make us wonder. No doubt it was treated as a trophy, by whoever put it in the vault. Thus it was wielded by someone if 'reputation' and or used for some major battle. The goth-blade look makes me think it was the weapon if a powerful warlock/Mage during the great Collapse.

3 通の返信or, human culture is just highly diverse and there is many different types of weapons manufactured. OR this is indicative of golden age martian design aesthetic... or maybe just golden age aesthetic... not a lot is known about the time that thorn was made.
